Transitional Issues from OOTP4 to OOTP5
What are some of the issues that need to be dealt with when an existing OOTP4 league is imported to OOTP5 ? We have a salary cap and with the minimum salary changing from $100k to $300k affects the salary cap. How does arbitration affect transition? What other leagues out there has changed over and what were some of the issues that you had to deal with and how did you change things to work for your leagues ? Please advise. Thanks

If you are planning on converting right before proceeding to next season, be aware that there are some arbitration glitches that you need to watch out for. I'll post them here if that's the case.

Please post them..........but I believe arbitration will be disabled for the 1st year of the transition. Is this wise or just delaying the problem?

If arbitration is disabled the first season, be aware that some Auto renewal contracts will come over as "1 Yr FA" and will be listed at $350K per year instead of the league minimum $300K. These can be fixed by editing their contracts. Just make sure to make a copy of the upcoming FA list in v4 and compare it to that in v5 and edit the players appropriately.
If arbitration is enabled, be aware that players go to arbitration after their 2nd season. I believe that this is a slight bug as well and that they shouldn't be going until after their 3rd season. One last thing, the game-generated html page names will be different in v5. The file names for most of the files are the same, but the file extensions change from .htm to .html. |

With arbitration turned off, when exactly will a young player become a free-agent? Is it after their 4th season of experience or 5th? Or 3rd?
This was an issue in v4 as well. Some players would enter FA earlier than others. If I need to edit contracts after converting, I'd like a definite answer on this one.. Thanks..

The way it is supposed to work is that with arbitration off, it will be identical to OOTP4. However, with converted leagues, this isn't true during the 1st year.
