Mods to use?

Hi everyone,

I'm a Swedish baseball fan (one of very few), who is completely new to OOTPB. I think the potential of the game is awesome, but I miss real players, stadiums, logos etc etc. More specifically, I would like to have a "universe" that is a close to the real world as possible. Having said that, I'm not really interested in managing historical teams, so starting in 2007 would be perfect. What I'm looking for is, btw, very similar to starting a game in the soccer games produced by si-games; i.e. you just pick a "real team" to manage in the "real world".

I have tried to search the forums, and I have also successfully installed, for instance, MLB07 rosters. I realize that all the necessary information about all the different mods and how to install them is probably available in the forums, but would nevertheless appreciate a "step-by-step" instruction. Some advice on which mods to use is also appreciated.

So, is there anyone out there who could take the time to write down a suggestion for which mods to use (and how to install them if it is not obvious) in order to be able to manage either a major league or a minor league team?

First the answer to your easy question. PadresFan, one of our community members, has done a great job in compiling OOTP modifications at his web site:

Specific to your question about how to install modifications, click on the link called "Mod Installation Help" where you will find instructions on how to do things properly.

Now for your tough question, which mods to use. PadresFan has pretty much everything available there that I use; if it's not there however, you most likely find it at this older web site which contains much of the same modifications and a bit more:

You say that you have already found the 2007 MLB roster sets. If you want historical MLB rosters, one place for that is this web site:

Notice I have not answered your question yet? That's because I am not going to!

I will say this: Although I have my own preferences, I have not used anything yet from any of these web sites that has terribly disappointed me. Some things work better or appeal more to me than others.

Maybe someone else will come along with more precise recommendations but I will just advise you to read through the Mods forum here and try various modifications until you find the ones that you like.

Heres what I would do if I was u. Go to padres fans website that was givin to you. Select a current roster set to use. There are 2 out there, darkcloud and mine. I would download them both and see which one you want to use. For my file, just read through the posts and you will see how to download it but if you need any help then just post a message the the board under my thread and I will be more then happy to help.

Anyway once you download a roster set and install it to the correct location, the next thing you should do download gambos photopack. Its about 4 or 5 files but its great and as far as installing it, I think there might be a readme file to help you out but then again if there isn't you can post under my thread and I will help you.

After you have the photo sets, you should download a logo set so you have the right logos for teams. Then download the photos for the stadiums.

All this is found on padres fans website and if you need any help just go and post on my thread and I or the other ootp fans will help you out. Here is a link to my roster and my thread.

This is what I think you need to make the game enjoyable for you. Its what I need and since you want to use current rosters and teams then this is the way I think you should go. If you have any questions just ask.
