Jones Jr. vs Handshaw July 14!
Former world champion Roy Jones Jr. (50-4, 38 KOs) will face against unbeaten Anthony Handshaw (21-0-1, 14 KOs) in a light heavyweight bout on July 14 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. Jones-Hanshaw is promoted by Murad Muhammad and Square Ring in association with IP Casino-Resort Spa. The name of the event is "He's Baack! Witness The Return Of A King." Ticket prices will range from 500 to $300, $100, $75 and $30. Tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster and other outlets on June 1. The price for the PPV telecast is $29.95 and show will be distributed by In Demand.

How smart is it to put this PPV fight on the same night HBO has a pretty good card with 3 interesting WW bouts?

They should have named the event, "Exit - Stage Left"
I guess it's hard to turn down a somewhat easy paycheck. But unless you're a real Roy Jones fan, and want to see what he has left, I can't see who would pay for that one.

Well first off Anthony Hanshaw is a very solid fighter and prospect. If Jones can win this fight convincingly then he is back in the mix at LHW.

It's a bad night to put it on but if the card is decent I will buy it. This isn't an "easy" paycheck by any stretch of the imagination for Jones.

We talked about this before when it was rumored.

Yeah, if people thought Taylor/Spinks was boring, this could be a LHW version & cost you $30 on top of it.

I think Hanshaw is a lot better than Ajamu and like Mike mentioned he is a good SMW/LHW prospect. If Jones wins, he's right back in contention for a LHW title. If he loses, Roy should just hang it upand a win like this would put Hanshaw in the group of other up and coming contenders in that weight class.

My prediction.....Hanshaw UD12.

I'll take Roy by UD. He wouldnt have taken this fight if he thought he could lose, if he wanted to lose he would have found a bigger name to fight and a larger paycheck.
