Mass release
I took over a team after simming the first 3 years of a universe. After playing through one season, my rookie A ball team ended up with 180 players on the roster. After checking the computer teams, this is obviously way too much. Is there a way to mass release a bunch of players instead of individually right-clicking?

There is no 'mass select' feature in OOTP, although I know that some people are requesting it (and it would be useful). I do find it a bit faster to release people by dragging them off the transactions screen, instead of right-clicking or ctrl clicking (on a Mac). Considerably more dangerous (I personally wouldn't do this) would be to temporarily impose a max roster size on your rookie team, but then the AI will decide who to release (if you have the AI controlling minor league transactions), and the AI won't necessarily make decisions you agree with. Or at least I assume that's what would happen- I haven't done it. If you don't care about any of the guys on the team, though, you might try it.

One of the advantages of the second alternative is that ALL rookie teams would lose their 'excess' players, at least temporarily. (Presumably after a couple of days you'll reset the roster to 'unlimited', due to the ongoing draft-and-release problem.
And if the CPU does flush out your best prospects, you can always re-sign, or attempt to re-sign, them Of course, if you feel that gives you an unfair edge over the AI teams… |
