Free Agent Compensation Issues

I'm using the latest patch, and I was pleased to see that Free Agent compensation was working again. I have, however, had two issues with FA comp: in one way, it doesn't work as I'd expect it to, and I've also noticed what I think must be a bug. The situation, in a standard ML league:

I signed a 1-star 3b, Ivan Gallo, in December 2017 to a minimum wage ML contract. Gallo didn't play at all in 2017, had 15 Major League at bats in 2016, and 0 at bats (in 2 games) in 2015. To my surprise, I got a message saying that his former team, Colorado, was receiving a 1st round pick as compensation; even though Gallo had only 15 major league at bats over the last three years, he was a type A free agent. Now, I gather the game uses ratings, at least in part, to determine compensation bands, but I'd prefer it modeled ML compensation more closely, where Elias classifies players by their statistical performance relative to others at the same position to determine free agent bands. It does seem a bit absurd to me that this guy is a type A free agent!

Now the bug; I looked at Gallo's player history. The last three lines were:

07-19-2016: Released by the Colorado Rockies.
01-01-2017: SISA scouting updated ratings (potential) [etc...]
12-03-2017: Signed a 1-year contract worth a total of $380,000 with the Washington Nationals organization.

Gallo was released by the Rockies before his contract expired, yet the Rockies are still receiving compensation for him; in real life, free agent compensation is never awarded for players who are released, only to players who play out their contracts to completion.

I know FA compensation doesn't work like MLB. That is why I don't use it. Markus currently has no plans to change it so I am not logging anything there.
