Uh, no... they're two completely unrelated things. Do some research on DIPS and you'll know what I'm saying. There's an INCREDIBLE amount of luck in baseball... especially for pitchers.

Quote:
And back in the day pitchers from an early age hurled alot of pitches and either broke down or their arms got stronger. Now days pitchers are coddled from day 1 and when asked to go beyond 100 pitches their arms just dont have the muscle and muscle flexibility to go beyond that very often. But if they did it often enough they would fall into one of the two camps from back in the early days of baseball. But no one does and the culture of the game has changed. I wonder if you could put together a convincing argument that in the rush to save pitchers arms, the pendulam has swung too far the other way and todays low pitch counts actualy hurt pitchers since sufficient arm strength is never built up. Now THAT is a study I would like to see. But it would be a hard study since you would have to remove the static of todays modern medicine from clouding the study. |

Lilly pitched well. Their starters (minus Zambrano) have been doing quite well.
I wonder if the reason they didn't throw the bank at Carlos was because they knew he would have a poor season. Maybe management knows something??? Or, is Zambrano just having "bad luck?" |

Have to give credit where credit is due, the Cubs (on the whole) looked a whole lot better than the Sox did - especially when the bullpens came into play. The Cubs scored 12 runs in the bottom of the 8th innings of those games, which is a good sign for you guys. For the Sox...not so much, really.

Cubs could be on a 3 game winstreak.. but as we know, scoring 7 runs in the 7th inning is never a good thing.
I won't be updating this thread until the Cubs are back over .500, which will be next week. Yup. See you all in a week. |

Wow - for all the talk recently of Buehrle and Pierzynski having "differences"...
http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/art...=.jsp&c_id=chc Zambrano & Barrett just went at it in the dugout. Now that's chemistry! |
