I had a successful career in Greece with Skoda Xanthi (I had to pick them with that name!) in, what I think was, the last CM before it went to the 2D match engine. Won leagues and cups, but not so great in the Champions League or UEFA Cup, although I think I may have won the UEFA cup once. Then, in another good season challenging for the title, the fans suddenly turn up and protest against me!!

I was genuinely angry at this so buggered off to promising Premiership side Coventry and took all my star players with me! Take that you ungrateful bastards!!11!!!

Second would be 3 straight doubles with Ajax culminating with a UEFA Cup win

I dont get people who say the game is too easy, I find it really hard and it takes alot of effort to build up a winning club.
But I mainly focus on young players too and build the club up from the youth system

That is my approach as well. I either end with a good set of players, and/or if I am in a lower league of the world (ie Wales), then I can get megabucks from selling a true young star to a top flight club.

In FM 2007 for less than 5 mil USD you can buy two Dinamo Croatia stars (Corluka and Modric) that will pay off enormous divedends immediatly. You have to offer them the max the chairman allows though in salary because as soon as you bid all the Euro big boys bid as well.

Geez, with all these Managers being fired or resigning, surely one must be interested in taking the Stalybridge job for free?

Did you put your FM CV in with your resume ? I know of one lad who did and sent it to Middlesbrough, the Chairman actually replied. Forgot his name and to lazy to look but Boro's got a great Chairman maybe even the best one imo.

Was that the one that made the news? I know there was a chairman who did just that and I think that is a terrific thing to do for someone

Yeah was on the news least online, Whelans first court case is to get £300,000 back from the police that he said they over charged Wigan. His complaint is and these numbers are just examples I'd have to look in the local paper and it's in my car and too lazy to get it lol, anyways the police charged Latics something like £17,000 and the crowd was only 12,000 then they only charged Bolton £15,000 for a 23,000 crowd and this happened in loads of games involving Wigan and teams from around the north west. Think one of his main gripes is that they charged Wigan X ammount to police a game against Leeds and then charged think it was Preston less even though the Preston v Leeds crowd was bigger than the Wigan v Leeds crowd.

I'll look up the figures when I get up later but gives you a rough guide to what Whelan is taking them to court for.

This one I don't understand for the simple reason people don't sue Asda if they bought a loaf of bread for 70p then next day find one in Morrisons for 60p do they, although I do understand his point as Wigan is hardly known for crowd vilonce hell we don't get big enough crowds for vilonce lol.

Latics released two players today, Arjan De Zeeuw and David Unsworth. No real surprise both are getting old and slow but will always be remembered at Wigan, De Zeeuw's been a great servant and a fan favourite and even though Unsworth didn't play much will always have a place in Latics folklore because of his goal that kept Wigan up.

So, why has the thread title been changed? If this is going to be an unending thread and season no longer matters, they really should just dump this monstrosity into its own forum.

No idea why it was changed but it was a stupid idea whoever came up with it and did it, we don't see other yearly posts being dumped into one thread so why the football one, unless some people were jealous of the fact that in time all the top posted and viewed threads would be football ones. I think the football thread song sums it up.

No one like's us, no one like's us, no one like's us we don't care, we are football, super football, we are football from this board.

Since it appears there'll be no new thread to commemorate it, who the **** cares?

Never really stops they've actually just started their seasons in some countries but the countries that are mainly talked about on this thread start around August.
