I’ve taken the idea of the link I posted a couple weeks ago were somebody is trying to get together 50,000 football fans to buy a football club, we wont be buying a football club I mean I doubt the £9.50 we could raise between us would buy a football let alone a football club.

Anyway I was thinking of using the same principal as what they are but using FM instead of a real club, I’d be the Manager and what this would entail is posting player reports, team tactics and so on and inputting them into the game. What you would do as a member of the club would be vote on who we sign, who we let go and what tactics we use in each game and also the line up in each game.

How we would go about this is at the start of the season I’d do a write up on each player we have at the club and then we could look at the strengths and weaknesses of the club to decide what formation we will use and what players we need to bring into the club, then I’d scout transfer or free agent targets and come up with say 10 players at each position were we need strengthening and do a small write up for each player then we’d vote on who we go after.

I’ve come up with the best idea I could to vote on which team we “purchase”, firstly what I’ve done is split the countries in FM into groups then whichever group wins we’ll vote on the countries within that group to decide which country our club will come from. Then what I intend on doing is looking through the teams within that country and coming up with a list and doing a small write up of about 10-20 teams depending on how many are in the league we choose, so we’re not voting on buying a Chelsea or Man Utd or Barcelona I’m going to put the maximum value of the team at £1,000,000 and that includes any loan debt they may have. You’ll find some countries missing as I want our team to go through the trials of promotion and relegation and as you know some countries have only one league within them so doesn’t allow for promotion and relegation, below are the groups that I’ve split the teams up into and it will be these groups that go to the first vote.

To make it fair I’m going to ask you to pm me your votes and then when the final votes have taken place I’ll post the group that has won and also post the votes that you sent to me, this way nobody can be swayed in their vote and I’ll post the votes so that everything is above board, so to make it easy for you all you have to do is cut and paste the group list below and put a number next to it, 1 being your first choice 2 being your second and so on doh! Lol and then send it to me via a pm on this board.
This is what your pm should look like, this also contains my votes so that people can’t say I cheated just in case there is a split vote.

I thought you might have not included the USA and Australia because they were franchise based leagues, and so would be impossible to have teams that meet your premise of minimum value, but now I see that you said you want leagues with more than one division.

Maybe if you go to South Korea you could go one step further and re-incorporate one of the pair of teams in K-League history to move cities.

Problem is football is never ending although league's that are/have just started aren't high on peoples minds on here, July 1st sounds as good as any to kick start the 07/08 season though, hopefully your th one to open it and nobody jumps the gun.

I agree. It'll also jettison the rather off-topic posts that I made in the mid-part of this thread.

Yeah, besides, if this monster ever gets too big it'll crash and be deleted. Then we'll all lose a host of +1s. For the sake of baba's post count we should split it up and protect ourselves.

Galaxy sign Xavier

Xavier joins LA Galaxy - PA Sport

//ord=Math.random();//ord=ord*10000000000000000000;document.write('');

Former Portugal defender Abel Xavier has signed for Major League outfit the Los Angeles Galaxy.

He will be eligible to make his first-team debut once the Secondary MLS Transfer Window opens on June 15.

Xavier will link up with former England captain David Beckham, who is due to move to the Galaxy from Real Madrid at the end of the current Spanish season.

The 34-year-old former Liverpool and Everton player joins on a free transfer after he was released by Premiership club Middlesbrough last week.

Galaxy president and general manager Alexi Lalas told the club's official website: "Abel brings immense experience and a wonderful personality to our team.

"He's a great defender and we're excited that he's coming to LA."

Xavier had a turbulent spell at the Riverside after moving on transfer deadline day in August 2005.

In October that year he was banned from playing football for 12 months after failing a drugs test.

He rejoined Middlesbrough in November 2006 after serving the ban and made 20 appearances in 2006-07 before manager Gareth Southgate decided Xavier was surplus to requirements.

Xavier said: "I'd like to thank Alexi Lalas, Frank Yallop and MLS for this opportunity.

"Football is my life and I'm excited to continue my career in LA. Football in the United States continues to grow and I'm proud to be a part of it.

"I'm coming to win. With the great team and wonderful fans at the LA Galaxy everything is possible. I bring heart, hunger, desire and passion. This is me today, tomorrow, and always."

Head coach Frank Yallop added: "This is a terrific signing for us and he will bring so much experience, leadership and ability to the team.

"People of his quality are not often available for us to sign, so we are really happy that he is going to join us."

The Mozambique-born player has 20 caps for Portugal, scoring twice.
He's had some classic haircuts, but this was my favorite

Rumors are that Zidane might also be coming out here. Whose the next over-the-hill player to join the Galaxy? Ronaldo? Vieri? UKHS??
