Problem with Disabling the facegen

OOTP cant reload my current game- always freezes when loading the faces. I followed these instructions in FAQ:

1. Open the Windows Start menu, click on "Run", enter %appdata%\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\config and hit Enter. This should open a folder with some config files in it.
2. Open the "app" file with Notepad or another text editor.
3. Look for the line that looks like this:

disable_facegen
0

4. Change the 0 to a 1, and save the file.
5. Quit OOTP
6. Restart OOTP

My Question is how do I resave the "app" as at .dat once I edit it with notepad (.txt)??

It shouldn't have any extension at all (i.e. it should just be "app" not "app.dat" or "app.txt"). Once you're done editing the file in notepad, hit ctrl-s to save the file and then close notepad.

Also, try this:

In your league that won't load, simply rename faces.dat to faces.old, and then try to load your league again!
