"Cannot afford contracts" ...
I searched for this problem before posting, and looks like someone else saw this about 10 days ago, but it was not really answered there:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=143531 I have a habit of always asking for cash with my trades. The AI will usually spring for $450k on most any trade, and it adds up. ;-) After many trades to open the season, it added up to $19,975,000 on hand. Ever since that point, whenever I try to add cash to ANY trade, from EITHER side (giving or receiving cash), for ANY players (major- or minor- league contracts), the trade becomes null: "Texas (that's me) cannot afford the contracts of the offered players". Don't care if it's $1; it's no longer allowed. Anyone else seen this, or have ideas as to whether it's a corruption, or a setting? Cash max is set at $10 mil (but that's only supposed to matter after the season); Revenue sharing is on. Thanks, Jim |

In your front office, what number does it show for "Projected Budget Room" in the upper left hand side? And what is the player(s)(who you are trying to acquire) salaries add up to, minus players' salaries you are sending?
Just gotta make sure of these things before we go further.

When the problem started, I had a negative "Projected Budget Room", even with plenty of cash on hand. In other words, I had pushed the budget past the break-even point ... Although, with the cash on hand, I still received the message that "The financial situation of your team is secure. You have" (example: ) "$19,000,000 (projected budget room + cash) available for player or staff signings". But in the meantime I've traded away some salaries, so that now I have a positive "Projected Budget Room" of more than $2.8 million (in addition to all my cash on hand). And still, if I so much as try to trade for an A-ball scrub (no salary on either side) and add so much as $1, on either side of the transaction, it immediately becomes null. This is fully reversible; if I remove the $1 by typing "0" and pressing enter, the transaction is once again possible. So it's definitely the cash entry that's causing the behavior ...

Hi, Jim.
Do you still see these issues with patch 1 installed? If so, do you only see them during certain times of year? Also, please check if the Projected Budget Room matches in both the Trade screen and the Front Office screen when these problems occur. |

In my testing, I have found that teams with negative projected budget room cannot give up any money in trades. If I edit them to have positive projected budget room, they are allowed to give up money again. That behavior is likely intentional.

Same issue
For the record, I've had the same problem ever since release, and also with the patch. I edited my finances in a historical sim to represent a certain teams financial might, and in no situation has adding so much as $1 to a trade resulted in anything other than the team cannot afford the contracts of the players. I certainly do not have a negative budget.

Update: I had this problem all throughout Season 1, but afterwards, the problem disappeared. I have a $10 mil cash max set, and after it took effect at the start of Season 2, the problem has not re-occurred (I have run the budget both way up and down to negatives in an effort to re-create, but it's been acting fine).
So I'm good ... I'll advise if the problem re-appears. Otherwise, who knows?

I had this problem once, and fixed it.
I can't remember how though, but I'm thinking it was due to me having more money than the max cash, or maybe it was my max cash was set to high. I'll check it out later & let you know. |

I'm going to close this thread out since we haven't heard any other reports of problems here. If someone sees this problem reoccur, please ask a moderator to re-open this thread so that we can try to pin it down. Thanks.
