HOF Criteria
I'm curious as to what other historical simmers are using for HOF Criteria and how they adjust it over time.
I usually start with the following in 1901: Minimum Hits = 3000 Minimum HR's = 500 (I leave this at default since no ones going to get in the Hall based on HR's during the early era anyway, even if it was set to 100 you might see 1 or 2 get in) Minimum Avg = .325 Minimum hits for Avg above = 2500 VORP = I put this ridiculously high so no one will get in on it. I just don't believe it should be a deciding factor for the Hall Minimum Wins = 300 Minimum Saves = 400 (Much like HR's, I pretty much leave this alone since it won't be a deciding factor during the early days of baseball) Maximum Era = 3.25 Minimum Wins for Era above = 250 When do you adjust your criteria? Or do you? Mine stays pretty consistent throughout history. Once relievers become a more important factor I usually up Saves to 500. I also adjust the Era and Min Wins for above Era to 275 and 3.00 around the 50's. I would like to see more criteria included in this, or ideally have an option added whereby the AI selects all the eligible players based on your criteria and then presents you with a vote page (for online leagues) or a Yes/No page for solo play. I know that I can add/remove players manually, but I think the vote or Yes/No option would be nice as it would allow you to decide up front. |

Starting in 1903 I use this:
Minimum Hits = 3000 Minimum HR's = 500 Minimum Avg = .300 Minimum hits for Avg above = 2500 (this is a change from default) VORP = 0 (I think at 0 it doesnt come into play at all) Minimum Wins = 300 Minimum Saves = 500 Maximum Era = 3.30 (this is a change from default) Minimum Wins for Era above = 250 (this is a change from default) I keep them like that for the most part, but might raise Maximum ERA a little over time to 3.40 and maybe 3.50 much later in history |
