What to build around?

I am new to Ootp. This is my 1st year. So i have a quick question. In my online league, my Dbacks just came off a pretty bad year and i basically need to rebuild them. I was thinkin of trading away my old vets for young pitching. Is that the right way to go or not? Any help would be great

Sometimes it is best to start rebuilding. I would trade away some of my vets, but I would hold on to a few of them as well. Trade away some of your players that are salary hogs and get some young pitching and good hitting. Good reserve players play a key role in OOTP, as in real MLB...

Have fun rebuilding, the best part of the game is watching a team go from zero to heroes!!

If I'm going to rebuild, I'll go for broke. I mean, if I'm gonna trade my old studs, I want to get a ton of young players, provided that they're good. I've never held on to my old guys while rebuilding. I figure let the young guys learn in the heat of the battle.

Yeah, this is what i was thinking. Luis Gonzalez hit 47hr and 120rbi last year, but he is 37 and makind 12.4. So based on that, i thought he would be a good candidate for a trade.

Another thing is, try to trade the higher salaried guys before/during free agency, so teams don't fill up their payrolls. Sometimes it pays to hang on to lower salaried but talented players (like good MRs) until the trade deadline, someone who is in a pennant race and has a need will often pay through the nose.
