Waiver wire in Historical Leagues
I'm trying out a historical league for the first time while waiting for real rosters to come out and have a question. I started the 1975 season as the tribe - I check the waiver wire the first day and see Dewey Evans and Manny Trillo out there. Now I have the benefit of knowing how those guys are probably going to turn out, esp with recalc on. What do you guys do in these situations? Do you house rule it and not put a claim in? Or is the variability in development enough to justify putting a claim in?
Thanks |

I try to refrain from making any moves until at least opening day. After that I try to keep things balanced. But I am almost always the Mariners, so factoring their history of sukitude, I bend this rule quite often.
If I use recalc, I always use player morale, so I cannot stock up on too many stars |

I figure the computer also knows who they are, with the recap on. So, I would pick them up and think nothing of it.
Small world, I am playing a league that is in 1978. (I simmed it from 1901 to 1975, released all the players, did a fantasy draft and then retired after 20 games). Then I simmed until 1978 and took over the team I had drafted for. Most of the team was intact. The small world part is that Dewie and Trillo are both on that team. Trillo has hit solid .300 all year, but is losing his job to Remy, as Trillo is sucking on the D. Dewie is having a fantastic season, when he is not injured. He has been hit by 3 injuries this year. Looking back at his history, he has a history of being hurt. I may have to put him on the WW myself!!
