If you go Sun Rays Im no longer thinking of the cool fish that stings you but Im thinking of sunburn and old people in speedos. But I guess you open up a whole world of sponsorship opportunities with all the sun block companies and possibly an SPF30 Stadium.

Tampa Bay Rays or Tropicals or Storm of St. Petersburg?
I would like to see them in Orlando but they still have a lease to finish in Tampa Bay.
I don't know why Orlando/New Orleans/Charlotte don't have more then one pro team.

I realize that I'm talking to a brick wall, but New Orelans and Charlotte do have more than one pro team each.

Or, at least, New Orleans will next year when the Hornets come back full-time.

Maybe they could call themselves the "Sun Ra's" and play "Nuclear War" during the 7th inning stretch....

(sorry - obscure jazz reference)

Tampa Bay Elders
or
Tampa Bay Retirees

Their new uniforms need to be gray and wrinkly.

I do kinda agree that Devil Rays was a pretty stupid name for a baseball team (kinda like the Toronto Raptors being named because Jurassic Park was the biggest movie of all time when they came around), but I'd just shorten it. Take off Bay and Devil and just go with The Tampa Rays.

Either that or the Florida Oranges :woot:

Charlotte just has the Bobcasts.
The Sting Folded.
The Hurricanes are called the Carolina Hurricanes and play in Raleigh North Carolina and the Panthers are called the Carolina Panthers and play somewhere other then Charlotte in North Carolina.
Charlotte does has Knights as Minor League Baseball team and Checkers as a Minor League Hockey Team.
I forgot the Hornets played in New Orleans.
New Orleans has a Minor League Baseball team and had the Bass as a Minor League Hockey team before if it's not active at the moment.
Orlando Predators count because they play in Areana League.
The Indoor Soccer team in Orlando might count but I haven't heard about that league.
The Florida Marlins play in Miami and they aren't called the Florida marlins of Miami.
LA of Anahiem is example of team using a city name of a city they don't even play in.

Ok, joke as much as you want, but mgom does have an extensive knowledge of franchises.

Is he always right about where they might end up? Maybe not. But at least he knows what arenas they play in.

That reminds me of a thread at BigSoccer where people wanted them to change all the MLS team names so they'd sound European, and someone wanted the Kansas City Wizards just called Kansas... City.

I agree with anything mgom has to say on any issues of team movement and or name changes.
