Signed, never released, now free agent. Same year
I can't get any production at 3rd base, so I'm cruising the free agents and find a gem. Turns out he was signed to a 7 year, upper tier contract earlier this year to an expansion team. Was never released, never waived, isn't on the transaction log anywhere other than the signing... but he's sitting in the free agent pool.
What's up with that? Note: I have not tried to duplicate this, yet. Playing in a 32 team ML... have a full set of minors. Last edited by Neags23; 04-10-2007 at 04:13 PM. |

Did he sign with you?
I had a similar experience where two of the top draft picks (Kiki Cuyler and Goose Goslin in a 1921 historical league draft) showed up in the FA list, but when I drilled down into their profiles they showed up as signed, and by the time I went back to see whether I could actually sign them, they were on their correct teams and locked up.

I was actually able to sign the guy. For a little less than he signed with his original team, actually. Oh, and he wants an extension. I guess I would too if I found myself as a FA after signing a multi-million dollar long term deal the last time

So he'll be firing his agent, then?

No, I haven't, but I haven't really been looking, either. I know it hasn't happened to any guys that I've signed, but there's no telling if it's happened to AI players. I'll take a look later tonight or tomorrow and report back any findings.
