Another "Game Crash" tread
I tried a board search, looked at about 20 threads about game crashes and never found one about what I was encountering, so here I am.
Win98, 333mhz (ouch), 128 RAM, DX 9. I disabled all sounds. When I sim, everything runs smoothly. If I play, right after I click on "Swing Away", the game gives me an error messages and send me to desktop. What is there to do now?

Liverpool's art punk four-piece Clinic formed in 1997 out of the ashes of Ade Blackburn and Hartley's previous band, Pure Morning. The duo added Brian Campbell and Carl Turney to the fold and released the thrashy debut single IPC Sub-Editors Dictate Our Youth on the group's own Aladdin's Cave of Golf label; it reached number nine in John Peel's Festive 50 singles roundup that year. 1998 saw the release of equally well-received singles like "Cement Mixer" and "Monkey on My Back," which also showcased Clinic's blend of chugging, Velvet Underground-style guitars, icy, Suicide-esque keyboards and drum machines, and Blackburn's acidic, Lennon-esque vocals. In 1999, the band signed to Domino Records and released "The Second Line," which was subsequently used in ads for Levi's Jeans in the U.K. Clinic began a flurry of activity in 2000, releasing their first album, Internal Wrangler and the singles "The Return of Evil Bill" and "Distortions." That summer, they appeared at Scott Walker's Meltdown and All Tomorrow's Parties festivals, and toured with Radiohead. The following year, the group returned to the studio and Internal Wrangler was released domestically in the U.S. In early 2002, Clinic resurfaced with their second full-length Walking With Thee, which provided a more spacious, atmospheric take on the group's sound. That spring, the band launched a full-fledged tour of the States. I'm sorry, I was just trying to find a way to bump that was more interesting than a single word, and hopefully you'll have learned something about a great band.

I said I didn't have trouble with simming. Well, I don't have any simming one game at a time, but when I clicked on "Simulate Season", it crashed right after switching screens.

I tried simming with another league..... and it worked! Maybe it's all those És, Ës and Çs I put in player names that causes the game to crash that much? I don't know what else it could be.

More precisions:
Simming any game works, except for my team's game. which causes OOTP to crash.

I have no accents in my team name, by the way.

It also crashes when trying to access the manager screen.
That's a double problem, because if you want to take off the manager mode, you can't...

Do you have a league folder (just the .dat files) that you could zip up and send to me and I'll see if this is system specific, or if its an error in that game.

Same thing happening here.
I'm getting the exact same problem... game works fine until I try to make my first pitch or head to the manager screen.
I'm using a custom league; I did the opening draft outside of manager mode, made all the changes I wished to make, backed up the game, and began manager mode. At that point, the above problem begins. When I restore to the backup file, everything works fine, and I can sim my own games just fine, as long as I don't enter manager mode. If I do, the same problem begins again. I'm thinking that the above symptoms 1) It began right after starting manager mode and 2) It crashes when you try to go to the manager screen suggest strongly that the problem may be related to starting up manager mode in mid-stream. Also, it sounds like LLN did the same thing, since he mentioned making changes to his players names. In case it matters, I'm running a PIII 550 with 512 MB RAM, Win 98 SE and Direct X 9.1. -Spielman |

What I did was do the draft WITH the manager mode after editing the league setup. Everything worked fine until I wanted to play a game...
