non-aging bug
this is an update to a known aging bug from the last edition of the game. i am bringing it up to let someone else who has the same problem know that this remains an issue with OOTP5.
if you choose (allegedly) a start year that isn't a 19XX or 20XX year, then players in some birthdate ranges will not advance in age. i am just now putting the game through the ringer to see if it is something that my league (currently on FPS Baseball Pro '98) would be willing to use. i chose a starting year of 1700 and thought that i had done everything correctly in setting up a carer league for fictional players. when players didn't age, i assumed that i had done something incorrect and tried it again. this time i used 1500, i think. same thing. i went back and checked out prior postings and found out that the above issue happened in the past.
i am calling it a bug since it clearly does not work as it should, but it is hardly something to get upset over. i am now starting another test league at 1900 to see if there remains an issue. by the way, for the most part i am very pleased with the game. the trading is unbelievably horrorshow in its offers from computer GMs, but that is my only real slam so far. the statistically realistic numbers are great. overall, it ain't quite Championship Manager qualit, but at least they are trying. i support the effort.
