Question Considering Purchase: Importing "Career Average" Players?

Hey, all!

Long time Baseball For Windows user here. I'm about to take the plunge with OOTP! The only thing missing, for me, was some audio play-by-play. Ernie Harwell did the PBP for BBW and it added a lot to the game, for me anyhow.

One question, tho. I know you can't do it on the demo version, but if you import players for drafting, etc. can you import a "career average" of that player?

For example, Player X played 10 seasons in the majors and had a .300 20 100 line for his career. Can you get ONE "Player X" with his career stats, averaged out to one 162 game season?

The had this option in BBW and loved it, using it for all my leagues.

LMK if they have that or something similar for OOTP!

Thanx,
John in TX

OOTP uses ratings, not stats, but the ratings are based on stats. When you import players from one of the historical databases you can choose to import the players based on one of the following four choices :

1. Career totals

2. Remaining years of career

3. Peak seasons of career

4. Remaining peak seasons

And to answer your underlying question: just buy the game. OOTP 2007 is the best baseball sim ever - and this is coming from a guy who hated OOTP 2006.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Hmm. . . from the looks of it, the answer to my question is not only "yes" but "yes, AND you can do these other cool things, too!"

Thank you, sir!

From someone who was very disappointed in 2006 (I only played for about a week and spent the rest of the time doing testing for the dream team), 2007 is the best OOTP i have played. I am already 6 seasons into my fictional league, which is about 5 1/2 years farther then i ever got into 2006.

Thanx, guys! JUST finished DL the demo - too bad I have to go to work now, tho!

BTW, Fantom, I've never seen that sig banner - that one that changes (Tigers, Halo, etc.) Where can I get one?

Can't wait to try OOTP,

Somebody (gambo? ankit?) made a career-averaged DB, but I'm not sure how up-to-date it is, or whether it is compatible with 2007...
