I might as well ask about numbers on facegen uniforms

...Since I've been wondering.

The FaceGen feature is of course excellent, and I know it will be tweaked over time to be even more impressive. I have no complaints.

However, as you know, many baseball uniforms have player numbers on the front, and I suspect it would be possible, if not necessarily easy, to incorporate these as graphics in the game, using the data already available.

Anyway I thought I would mention it. Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, this has already come up a few times and the Markus has said to file this away in the "Not coming anytime soon" department.

Well, there is a workaround, but it's a bit tedious.

When you update a player's photo in-game, it uses the uniform .png in the jersey folder of your save game. With the game running, you can take that uniform .png, open it with gimp (or whatever you're using) and add a new layer with the uniform number of the player you're updating. Save the file, then go back into the game and update that player's photo.

Rinse and repeat. Like I said, tedious. I am actually using this concept as a workaround for home/away jerseys. I have three jerseys for each team (home/away/alt) and it adds variety on the news pages, championship trophy page, etc., as you have some players in home whites, some in greys, some in solids, etc. Add in random angle and zoom, and your face pics are extremely varied and visually appealing.

Hope that helps.

Ok, good to know. In case they're interested, they can add my name to the list of those who would be interested in this as a future development.

Some good ideas. I have Photoshop so it wouldn't be too big a deal. I suppose on the uniforms, couldn't you just have two different templates for each team, and set the FaceGen to update only on demand. Then you could alternate between them using load instead of find.

I do something very similar, though it never really occurred to me until just now to make sure that I save one version as a template. I generated all my players with one uniform. I created another, then, as I go about my business, I choose random players to give the new uni to.
