Runtime error importing database

ok, dloaded lahman5.0 and extracted the files into a folder called stats, not in same main directory as ootp5 (tried it in same directory first, same problem)

When I try to creat a historical league, and import year 2002 (tried other years) I get the following error:

A pop up box labeled Microsoft Visual C++ Library appears with this in it:

Program D:\games\ootp5\ootp5.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Will now attempt to import 2001 with the lahman4.5 which I know works with OOTP4, but would like to play with the 2002 stats.

You need to make sure and give the new league a unique name(one not previously used in the OOTP5 directory).

Right, using new league name, tried using a same name once, and generates a different error saying league name already exists.
So tried importing 2001 with the lahmans4.5 database using OOTP5, get same error.
So to make sure my system could handle these databases, opened OOTP4 and imported a new year, and worked fine. Pretty much stumped now.
In summary my OOTP5 can not import either lahman45 or lahman 50 data, but my OOTP4 can. Thinking I'll just go ahead and start with fictional players and not spend too long trying to import seasons for now, anxious to get simming.

You need to type the path exactly, and 5.0 only works w/ v5.

It will not allow me to import any historical leagues at all. It says 'creating league', and creates a folder for the leageu in the OOTP5 folder, but then it says 'loading database' and immediately gives me the 'illegal operation' error message and shuts the game down completely. [It says it's an invalid page fault in kernal32.dll, if I remember correctly.] I have tried importing different years, and always get the same result. I'm running Win98, and have 128 Mb RAM--if that's not enough to run the game, then it should say so in the system specs. Thanks for any help you can give me.

You MUST have the "comma delimited" version, access version won't work!

You must be creating a league that is "unique" in it's name, not another league by the same name in the directory.

Yes. I accidentally made that mistake once, and have corrected it. I make it all the way through the 'creating league' step, and then crash as soon as it says 'loading database'.

Do you have alot of programs running in the background? Are you using v5 of the database?

Yes, I just downloaded v5 for this purpose. I shut off everything in the background. I downloaded DirectX 9. I turned off the sounds and the 3D. I rebooted the computer. Nothing seems to work.

my game is crashing with historical imports as well, but it crashes AFTER it's loaded all of the players.

I've figured out the problem I'm having--for some reason, the database wasn't unzipping properly, and I had to rename files to get them to inflate correctly. Looks like this wasn't an OOTP problem, I'm very happy to say.
