Started a league with Lahman in 1997. Simmed a season to get to expansion draft. I took over an expansion team. Looking through league transactions, Steve Avery has been signed and released by STL. four times in six days (at the beginning of the 98 season), this is after signing a 2 year deal 2 months before with AZ, and being released the same day. These were all major league contracts.

Ummmmm no. There were no responses before you posted. Edit, I see what you are talking about with responses. One was a sign and release, this problem is trade for a vet, then release.

I'll post the player history here. This is after starting a season in 1997 with Lahman, importing complete history, simming the 97 season, then I took over the expansion Devil Rays, and am playing the 98 season game by game. I'm now on April 10th, so maybe the tigers are going to keep him.

I get this routinely with my historical sims. And it's frustrating as hell, because a number of these guys I'm trying to sign, but not only do they not sign with me and sign with other teams, but the next day they are FAs again, I make another offer, get the "you already have an offer pending" message, then they sign with yet another team, and so on and so on, day after day, until for some unknown reason each guy sticks with one team at different times (some a couple of times, some upwards of a dozen times).

I added rookie league roster limits of 35 in 1907. I've since turned them off (6-1-08) but this clearly was occurring before and after.

Bishop's issue appears to be a different "failure mode" since it's a case of a player being passed around to various organizations every two weeks or so. A couple items that might be helpful in looking at that one:

Can you tell if he's being signed as injury replacement?
What are his personality ratings?
If you're using morale, can you tell if he's happy in places?
How has his performance been?
When you look at teams he's been signed by, do the signings appear to make sense?

Nah, he was going to almost exclusively Rookie, A, and short season A stints. I saw him in AAA one time I glanced at him, but apparently never got into a game. Was never good enough to be in the depth chart even in the low minors (since I can't have a limit, there's 40+ guys in those levels) Very limited playtime, and even then, he never gets any at bats. I'll post his player page, here.
3 leadership,19 loyalty, 8 desire for a winning team, 13 greed, 10 Intelligence, 12 Work ethic. As you can see, guy had a total of 18 at bats over 8 years and 42 games.

(He's since retired, I'm looking for a current year example, hopefully I won't find one)
