The AI won't take my Crappy Player!!
I have a 34 year old C. Everett and he's making 11 mil for the next year, and I can't get a single AI team to trade for him I can't even GIVE him away to ANY of them. lol Cmon this is C. Everett in his PRIME haha. Ok ok ok so he only batted .224 this last season, is that any reason to give up on this STAR DH? He hardly has any fielding stats now. Used to be pretty good in all the outfield positions, but, because I used him as a DH for the past two years he's lost all ratings in the field. Cmon....someone please take Everett off my hands, else I'm just going to have this STAR player sitting on the bench choking 11 mil out of me for another season while he does diddly. lol
I'm sorta being sarcastic here because this was a major issue with 6.5a and I could unload players like this all the time on the AI. Just another thing to brag about this game. They finally fixed a lot of the exploits we used to could do against the AI. I just seem to find something new each and everyday I play this game that is so much better than past versions. But, of course there are still some things that need adding and fixing. I still need a Team Free Agent page or Team Contract Page that lists every player that needs a contract both minor and major.

choose a team, then choose Front Office, then choose Possible Free Agents.

It is nice to be totally unable to unload older players with diminished skills.
I have a 34 year old MR with ratings in serious decline. He's overpaid in terms of current abilities. I thought I could get some team to take him for a marginal prospect, but no. No CPU team offers me anything. It's very realistic. In real life they'd wait for me to just release him (which ultimately I undoubtedly will) and only then try to sign him to a smaller $$ deal. But even in OOTP 2006 it wasn't as easy to dump overpaid vets, not like it was in 6.5. So the game has really improved in this. |

I agree.... it is fair for you to be stuck with your dead weight player because yuo over paid for him. You make a bad investment, why would I want it?

IRLB...many teams trade their overpaid player and pay part of the salary. I know you have the ability to give cash to a team but it is not the same as paying part of the salary. That would be a nice feature to have if a team really wanted to make a trade.

You can also check out the salary report from the team home page. IIRC, that was added in patch 1, and is HUGELY helpful.
Team Home Page -> Link Box on Right - > Player Salaries |

Helpful BUT, this item is in Tech Support because those salaries are incorrect if you've made any changes to your coefficient, although it would serve to display the player's current contract status.
