Something i noticed. When playing the game it will sometimes say the player goes back to the warning track and catches it off his shoe tops. I dont think someone is gonna run back then catch it just before it hits the ground.

any consideration having arrows on the league transaction screen? I know that was a hot topic and I would like to see them there (and yes I know they are on the minors report screen).

anyway ... it's a great service you do for your customers markus and I am glad I am one.

I agree with the odd number of times that you're racing to the wall and dive to make a shoestring catch.

On the other hand, what is really nicely done, is that after a rain delay, my outfielder slipped on the wet grass while coming in on a play. That is a nice touch and some real attention to detail.

I actually like the current system. It adds some challenge to the game.
The challenge of guessing what a player wants? You make 2 offers he doent like and he wont resign with you. Then during the free agent season you right click on the same player and he tells you exactly what he wants. Why? Shouldnt a player with high loyalty make it known what he is looking for? If a player didnt like your 'guesses' why would he listen to your offers once he is a free agent?

You can make resigning players challenging. But it should be for reasons related to baseball and financial matters not on making a couple guesses to what a player wants.

Guessing what a player wants seems unrealistic to me unless you would reciece a counter offer. For example if you offered a player 5 million for 4 years and you recieced a reply like I was thinking more like 5.5 million for 5 years. Then you could try to bring him down some closer to your figure and years. the penalty then could be if it went back and forth too much the player would get mad and test free agency.

I really like earlg's idea. Also would like the player to tell us what the other team is offering so we can try to out-bid.

Mark,

I'm a proud owner of OOTP5.

Any chance that we could see a kind of minimal play-by-play option. For example, instead of the long description of a grounder to third, we'd get,

"Groundout to third."

I like playing my games manually but after a while the PBP gets old.

Thanks,

Alanb

Alanb, have you tried turning the pbp speed all the way up? Seems to me it would go by fast enough you wouldn't be able to read it but would just see the end of the play. Don't know if that will work but would be worth a try.

Over spring training for the last 3 years until this one, I bought the new edition of the High Heat series. But now I'm glad I found OOTP.

This customer service beats the hell out of 3do, which wasn't all that bad.

Thanks Markus and .400, this is a great game! My $35 was well spent! And it made the fact that I didn't go to New Orleans for spring break this week (because I'm short on cash) is not sooo bad I found too many hours of enjoyment with this game.

I hope yall get away from that source code every once in a while and get to sim a few seasons yourselves...hehe

thanks again

I used HH2k+1 for years and I am a recent OOTP convert, mainly because of the 'little-guy' programming shop and great, prompt customer service.

One Thing I Would LOVE to see

As a commish, in-game draft picks would be so damn nice... I know Mogul does it.. as a commish, would simplify life so nicely to have draft picks in-game, and not have to screw around with an external draft picks page, the draft order program, making multiple trades, etc...

DG, I got around this by "creating" a Draft Pick player.
ie. [First Name]1st Round [Last Name]Draft Pick etc, etc
In some cases, had to create more than one of these.
Where three teams had traded their 1st round pick,
I had to create three of these 1st round "players".
After the draft round, just went to each team and released
the draft pick, then to Edit Free Agents and deleted them.

Yes, but....

....yes, but notice the effort you had to go to create the player, etc...

Currently, this is what i have to do, as a commish, when a team trades for a pick...

Trade Example: Chicago trades Sammy Sosa to Montreal for a 1st round pick...

Trade 1: sosa and a scrub to montreal for scrub
Trade 2: scrub for scrub

Afterwards, I have to go update the draft picks page

Come draft time, have to use Draft Order to change the draft...

Would be SO much easier to just have in-game draft picks, say, Rounds 1-5 for current plus two additional seasons....

Baseball Mogul does it, Front Office Football does it, and since they are vastly inferior and do not have the incomperable Marcus et al prgramming, should be a damn snap to do, imo...

Would also improve the Alamanac, as it would list the one trade - Sosa for a 1st, rather than the two trades....

I agree with Dean-O.

Ingame draft pick trading would be ideal, especially for Solo Leagues also..

I do it the way I do so that the trade appears in the team histories as it should.

If you create the 1st Round Draft Pick player, then you can trade Sosa for the draft pick,
and the histories will say Sosa was traded for a 1st Round Draft Pick.

yes... but...

Yes, it shows up in the history, but at a considerable cost in terms of time and effort by the commish to:

1) create the player "Cle Draft Pick 1"
2) after the trade release the player
3) then edit and delete them....

In a league like EBL, which trades draft picks like candy, this is a lot of extra work...

SO much simpler to just add in-game draft picks...

For the solo game, it will add an extra bit because it gives you one extra strategic trading decision...

For online leagues, imo as a commish, its damn essential...
