According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

More specifically:

Will the OOTP re-patch be out in the next two weeks?

Things either look good, or that thing is rigged...

I know this isn't the type of comment that will really help anything...but just let me rant once: It's really hard to believe that this problem made it through both the alpha/beta testing and the first patch. I'm relatively new to the game but it seems as though playing in career mode and starting out in the minors is more or less the default set-up. So I guess it's safe to assume that there weren't any of the beta testers who played it that way?

As I said, just a quick rant. Really enjoying the game, in general, and I prefer playing as a major league GM anyhow.

Actually, it's one of the least popular ways to play the game.

Yah, that was my thought reading km352's post but Curtis was confident enough to express it.

I don't see managing in the minors as a very fun way to play this game, and it may indeed be only for people who like to have a realistic career path. Otherwise, and I speak from experience, it is frustrating to be not in control of your own roster, not being able to trade or draft for your team, have only one scout who sees things only from your minor league perspective, etc., etc.

And these are normal aspects of minor league managing, as they should be; this latest issue of AI meddling with your team management is just a momentary problem. Given all that, I can see this problem making it through beta testing undetected; I would bet that not one of them chose to test the game while managing in the minor leagues.

This is not an excuse, but an observation. I hope this fix makes it into the next patch because, my prior comments notwithstanding, I am one of those people who like realistic career paths and I may choose to pay my rookie manager dues in the minors again. God help me.

I think the real appeal to starting off in the minor leagues (for me) was it gives you a way to gradually learn the game. I do like the 'role-playing' aspect, but my intital reasoning was the "learn as you go" approach.

Not having to worry about drafts, and contracts, and extenstions, and micro-manage scouts... plus it was a low stress way to learn the interface.

Some people probabaly might just make a small universe to GM in to learn... but I love the realistic setting of having a full major/minor universe to play in. I was really having a good time playing my AA team.

The reason i started this thread is because i was pretty upset that the fix didnt make the patch. I really liked this idea, and have always micromanaged my minors for many version. I really like the way that you are handcuffed as a rookie team manager and just get what scaps the big boys throw your way, if you can make it out of rookie ball, i feel you have earned it. Work your way up through the ranks to your MLB destiny, that is a great addition to this game if you ask me.
I will wait for the fix to come down the pipe, then continue on.....
