Steve Please Read
Steve:
I was briefly involved with a discussion on how to run and setup a league in which all players play their home games and then send the results to the Commish who in turn sends out updated files each week or month. I have looked at the extensive help file in ver. 5 and can find no helpful info. Can you help me to find detailed instructions on how to setup a league like this?? Thanks, DMN

Thanks for the suggestion and I did read everything on that page!
The problem is I cannot find a set of step by step instructions on exactly how to setup and administer a league in this format. I really need more detailed instructions rather than just a discussion on this type of league format. All the discussion on cheating is not the point! IMHO because I have played in dozens of leagues like this with other games and all this (expected) cheating has not been an issue. Does it occur from time to time, yes probably so, but I am not aware of any league that fell apart because of 1-2 guys who wanted to cheat. They are always asked politiely to leave once it becomes obvious. The new OOTP5 game is PERFECT for this type of league experience IF someone has detailed instructions on all the particulars. I am amazed that Marcus and Steve have not directly addressed this in the help file??? Thanks, DMN

Do you want instructions on how to run an online league, with some specific pointers about how to modify the typical league process to accomodate all owners playing their home games at home? Or do you know all the basics, and you just want to know how to compensate for the differences between what you propose and the standard online league procedure?

Thanks for your reply! I am fairly familiar with the process of running an online league. What I do need is exact intructions on how to setup a league planned for the home managers playing their own home games, saving the stats and sending them to the Commish every two weeks. In other words a Non-Sim league. I can do this with the SOM, DMB and PC Action games but I cannot find any relavent info on this in the new version of OOTP. I really believe the ability to do this is within the game but Steve has not responded and the game does not have any documentation I can find. Being old and slow I need specifics! Thanks, DMN

DMN,
Not what you want to hear, but OOTP is not set up to play that type of league. The problem is that it cannot output series results. It's design is centered around exporting lineups and rotations as well as manager/player tendencies so the games can be played on a "central" machine. Look at it this way... if everyone played their own schedule for the week on their own copy of the game - all those results would be on each of their machines... but no way to export them. Henry |

Thanks for the info. But I have to wonder why Steve has commented from time to time that this style of league play WAS possible in OOTP?? I wish Steve would elaborate! Thanks, DMN
