manage'rs names are being used as players

1. starting a 12-team fictional league from a template, i noticed that the two managers i had created had their names show up in the stats for the league as if they were players. each team would have at least of of the two managers on their playing roster.

2. --

3. using the same template, i recreated this bug three straight times.

Was the template created with this version of the game?

yesssssss...lemme think for a sec...yes. i just used settings i liked from 2006, but i typed them in fresh here.

sometimes i will see "chuckles smith" on several leaderboards, both for pitching and batting.

i have not gone back and done another template from scratch that would otherwise be available, but will do so this weekend.

That might be the problem. I noticed that using a world template made with an earlier beta version of 2007 created several anomolies within the created game in the release version (mostly dealing with FaceGen, though). So I'd imagine that a template created with 2006 would have some issues as well.

You could either make a fresh template with 2007, or use 2006 to create a league with the old template, then import the whole league into 2007. It might provide better results than using an old template.

sigh.

i just created a new game without using a template at all.

same old problem. it takes the managers last name or full name and makes several players scattered all over the playing rosters of my teams.

grrrrrrrr.

in case anyone else has this definite bug:

i deleted leagues initially. no effect. it still remembered the old manager names and put them in the league as batters multiple times.

then i took the drastic tep of re-installing the game. nope. same thing.

then i deleted the game altogether. nope. it still used the manager names.

then i unistalled the game and went through and deleted any files or folders associated with it in any way at all. nope. it STILL somehow found the old manager names. this doesn't even make sense.

now, with a fresh install, i went through and made a new template. it now uses the manager name in the same way. grrrrrrrrr.

to be clear, let's say that i have a manager named 'bill fudge'. when i start the league, maybe two guys on every roster are now named 'bill fudge'. occasionally, i will also get a different first name with the 'fudge' last name.

when i go in and attempt to edit the player record, one of the features is 'generate new name'. this will work on about 20% of the players. if i hit the button repeatedly, these are examples of what i would get:
bi fu
bill fudge
bill f
bil fud

over and over and over, until i finally have to physically enter a new name. it is like it is generating the player name from a mini-database that consists of only manager names.
let's say i physically enter the name 'toots juniper'. now, when i go and try to edit and player names with 'bill fudge' after this, this is what i now get:
bi fu
bill j
bi ju
too fud
toots j
toots juniper
bill fudge
t fudg

so, in effect, it adds the last name i physically modified on one of these tainted players.

in attempting to understand the 'whys' of this thing, i really only have two issues that are more unique to my league.
1. i created a new country, and have assigned cities, weather, etc. to this country.
2. i use a '99' on % of foreign players. now, it seems to me that 1% would be from this new country. i checked to see if the tainted players were all from this created country, and that was not the case at all.

summary:
i have no clue why this happens, or why it happens every time.
