Astros RF Gary Sheffield is hitting .400 with 3 HR's and 6 RBI's.

No one on the Yankees roster has more than 1 HR. We could use his power.

Yankees Offensive Struggles Continue

4/10/06

Ted Wiliford
Staff Writer

While Gary Sheffield continues to crush the ball in Houston, the Yankees continue to suck up out like their is no tomorrow. Jorge Posada is hitting .250 with 0RBI's, Jason Giambi is hitting .208 with 3RBI's, Robinson Cano is hitting .250 with 1HR and 6RBI's, A-rod is hitting an apaulling .182 with 1 HR and 2RBI's. Mr. Yankee, Derek Jeter, is also below the mendoza line hitting .160 with 4RBI's. The outfield isn't any better. Until someone turns it around, expect many more losses Yankee Nation.

I'm Yanks fan so this is interesting. Nice read so far. Whose replacing Damon in CF?

It's been Bubba Crosby against RHP and Noah Hall against LHP. Neither one is a great replacement, but they are adequate. I'm praying one of those " Johnny Damon isn't healing as fast as expected" e-mails doesn't make its way into my inbox

Feel free to ask any more questions!

G Man off to a typically slow start.......how do the Minors look for 1B prospects?

Eric Duncan,21, is a pretty good prospect, he is hitting .393 with 1HR and 4RBI in 7 games at AAA. He can play 1st or 3rd and with A-rod not going anywhere, it looks like he will eventually take over at 1st.

Andy Phillips,29, is playing 1st in AAA hitting .289 with 1 HR and 4RBI so far. He would only be called up because of injury.

Gaimbi's backup, Scott Spiezio, is great defensively, but he can't hit a lick.

Yankees 9
Royals 1

W. S. Chacon(2-0)
L. J. Mays (0-2)

Chacon went 6 2/3 while giving up the lone run with one hit and three walks. Jason Giambi went deep twice this game, Matsui, Crosby and Williams all went deep this game.

PoG: Jason Giambi(3-4 2HR 3RBI 4R 1BB)
He is now hitting .219 with 2HR and 6RBI. I guess talking smack about him worked. Jason Giambi sucks. There, maybe he will hit another homer next game

We now sit .5 game back of the Devil Rays. We are currently 5-3. I should get a few more scores posted tonight.

Royals 6

W. R. Johnson(3-0)
L. S. Elarton(1-2)

Jeter, A-rod and Lane all went deep. RJ went 6 2/3 giving up just 2 runs. He also struck out 8.

PoG: Derek Jeter(3-5 1HR 2RBI 2R)

Next game will be in Minnesota with Pavano looking to get his first win. We have a task at hand as the opposing starter will be Johan Santana(2-0 1.06)

This man is filthy folks. After beating up on the Royals, I'll fear we will have a tough time facing a real pitcher.

W. J. Santana(3-0)
L. C. Pavano(0-3)
S. J. Nathan(3)

Santana didn't have his best stuff but he was good enough to win. Pavano isn't pitching badly, he is just not catching breaks. He gave up 5 R today only 3 were earned. Jorge Posada committed his second error of the year.

PoG: Jason Giambi(2-4 1HR 2RBI 1R)

This is a very enjoyable read and I look forward to following along. The game recaps are interesting and to the point. Keep up the good work...and good luck with the Yanks.

If darkhorse had been your owner, I'd have vetoed the trade and fired you on the spot.

It's an iffy deal, thats for sure. There wasn't much avaliable for Sheff on the market, and that was the best I could get. I'm trying to trim the payroll down to around 135mill or so.
