Still seeing a lot of walks

I've read a few threads from people who either imported a game or used a roster set and encountered pitchers walking an inordinate number of people in a row. I just played two spring training games and in each game, a pitcher walked the bases loaded and proceeded to walk in at least two runs (one guy walked in three runs) before finally being pulled.

This is a historical league that I imported from the standard Lahman 5.4 database with a starting year of 1970. Let me know if you need any additional information on my league settings.

In the other threads I've read with walk problems, Markus said to set the "Bases on Balls" on League Totals to 16000 to fix it. My league is setup with a "Bases on Balls" of 13727. While I'm perfectly willing to try setting it to 16000 to see if the problem goes away, I'd like to know why the default setting I got when I created my historical league didn't work.
