DeRosa hit the ball surprisingly well in his two years with the Rangers. His career EQA is a slightly substandard .255, but with Texas it was (.270) in 2005 as a part timer , and (.277) as an everyday player last year. He was a very useful player in 2006. I dunno how likely it is for a 32 year old to repeat that kind of career performance, but I wish him the best with the Cubs.

Zambrano pitches seven good innings minus. Cubs are winning 6-3 at the moment, 1 out in the bottom of the 9th..

I might have to bring a broom to tomorrow's game.

Well that didn't go great at all. Wade Miller ruined my Miller Park experience today.

It looked like we were going to come back and tie or win the game in the 8th inning then Lou makes his first big mistake of the season with runners on 1st and 2nd nobody out with a guy who had struck out all three at bats in the game. Doesn't bunt and we go three up and three down with two runners on.. damn it.

Yeah, Wade looked flat out terrible... it didn't look like he was changing speeds at all, every pitch he threw was 84-86. I wonder if DeRosa has ever had a worse day in his entire career? 4 K's and a play at second where he spent 15 minutes deciding rather to throw to first or second.

Oh well... the bullpen looked good, at least until the 8th, and tomorrow is another day.

Mark hit the free agent bonanza during the offseason, but this type play will have him riding the ponderosa.

Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that there will be no baseball at Wrigley today. It's currently snowing like crazy here. I'm hoping they ignore the offday tomorrow and reschedule the game for July 12.

Rich Hill is THE MAN! Seven shutout innings today. He walked four, but since he hadn't walked anyone in spring training, or in his first start, he's allowed some leeway.

7-0 over the Reds.

There were a lot of shutouts pitched yesterday. Cold weather is a pitcher's best friend.

This interview, with farm director Tim Wilken, may be of interest to Cubs fans.

Yucky offense.. Jones, DLee, Barrett all come up short in the 6th inning with runners on 1st and 3rd nobody out. Can't even get a ground ball from Jones, instead he swings at a pitch two feet outside. Lee strikes out looking, doesn't take one swing...wtf? Barrett made a nice first pitch swing that landed just foul down the right field line, then made an out anyways. This is why we won't be a .500 team all year.

Lohse looked absolutely AWESOME this game. He was spotting his pitches perfectly. EVERY SINGLE TIME! Great game by him. Nice game from Lilly too as he strikes out 10 and gives up the lone run of the game as the Cubbies lose once again.. 1-0

Damn it.

So it looks like Soriano may be headed to the DL with a strained hammy.

Sori's vacation should be brief. That fella is never out of the lineup long.

dola,

And with a prospect the quality of Felix Pie in AAA, currently batting .444, the sting should be mild.

triola,

It seems that Lou Piniella is worried that Soriano is suffering from CCS, Coco Crisp Syndrome, (the inability to hit whilst playing CF).

Peeee yyaay!

Pie gets his first hit for the Cubbies.. an RBI double to make it 3-2 in the fifth inning. Hopefully the other youngster, Theriot or Lee can knock him in to tie the game up at 3...

Never mind on Theriot.
