Finances: Average Attendance user input is disregarded
Average Attendance user input is sometimes disregarded.
League Setup --> Rules --> Average Attendance The game does funny stuff with the average attendance input. If I say average attendance is 100 (slo-pitch indie league) the teams average attendance is about 15,000 fans per game. If I put in an average attendance of 2,000 (A level indie league), the teams average attendance is about 10,000 fans per game. Modern MLB style test leagues appear to be using the Average Attendance figures input into the game, so this problem appears to be centered around leagues that would use lower numbers like this. Note that this is not related to the "League Level" setting, and the above observations come from dozens of similar test leagues. Also note that the same thing was happening in OOTP 2006. Screen-shot: Here's my attempt at a small town slo-pitch league with an average attendance of 100 per game, it sure would be nifty if the game would correctly use that value for it's attendance calculations .IMO this is a high importance issue. Did you edit the ballparks by any chance?
I kind of tried what it looks like you have setup. Problem is, I used standard ballparks and I wasn't sure what to put player salaries and all on. Made a couple other mistakes as well with it (forgot about staff/coaches and those were huge salaries). Just wondering where the numbers start diverging from what they're set at in the options too.

All that said, if you input an average attendance of 100 you would still expect the game to reflect that user input, that or have a text-box limit that says "average attendance must be over X amount" or something so user would not be fooled into thinking it works . Regarding player salaries: Uber low salaries as low as $5/season seem to work well in the game, the only part that stops the recreation of this kind of amateur teams finances is the attendance income (AKA gate revenue - see above) and the income from merchandising, which is not editable in v2007. I'm writing a tips list for people who want to try this type of league or universe. I've tried similar things in every version of OOTP and this is definitely as close as I've come to getting it working. I believe OOTP 2006 even ignored my input for uber low salaries but that is definitely working in v2007. |

"If this solves the attendance problem I'll bump this post."
Changing my stadium capacities solved the attendance issue for me. I'm not sure what the game logic is doing there but now if I create a 100 capacity stadium and then make the average attendance 50, I get around 50 people per game - fantastic, thanks Solack. I think the only thing remaining now for ultra-low budget amateur or semi-pro style leagues is the fixed merchandising revenue value, hopefully we could edit that exactly like media revenue in future updates. |

Merchandising revenue was editable in 2006 (I did it many times). You're saying this has changed in 2007?

I went ahead and logged the attendance bug as TT#3310.
The merchandising customization has been logged previously. Maybe this post will convince Markus to look into allowing that again.

Curtis: I have not found any way to edit merchandising revenue, it does not seem to be an option in v2007.
Solack: Thanks again, the number of changes from v2006 for doing wacky small leagues like this is extremely impressive. |
