Anyone still not purchased yet...
I'd be interested in hearing the reasons why you've not yet laid out for the game.
Doesnt matter what, just lay it on the line here. If you have purchased and you enjoy it, have you managed to spread the word or convince a fellow family member to try it out? |

Well, fair enough. At the end of the day, this is an unlicensed product which never promised roster sets. You have to give the guys doing this stuff in their free time a bit of break, they don't get paid, they owe you (or us) nothing in reality.
End of message

No money. College does that. Rest assured though, the second I get enough money, I'm buying it.

BUT....
You guys really need to work n making Exhibition screens easier. Every other game on the market allows for quick pick up games that don't count stats or fatigue players. Currently you need to go to 2 different sections to set this up, wheras in previous (i.e. pre-2006) you could play exhibition games by selecting them on the Game menu. I know Markus said this was something for patch two, I just wanted to throw my .02 cents in, as it is the most frustrating part of the game for me currently (which is pretty good on your guys part, there were a lot of things that frustrated me more in last years edition). |

Honestly?
Yeah, it's the roster sets. I know it's not SI's fault or Markus' fault or the communities fault, and I'm not running around like a headless chicken. I'm just not going to buy it until there are MLB rosters released. That's the way I play the game, and please for the love of God don't lump me in with all the whiners. But I honestly think it's a legitimate reason for people not to buy the game. Those of you who enjoy the fictional leagues, historical leagues, or are OOTP guys since way back, I'm glad, but don't jump on our backs because we want to play the game a different way. The game doesn't come with a license-- makes sense considering how much it costs. However, I understand that in advance, and I will also not sink my money into a purchase until I know there'll be a modification to the game base that'll allow me to enjoy playing it (ie MLB rosters). |

I'm not sure how much the cost is, seeing that other games have sports licsenses .. and their costs are generally no higher than other games (assuming the comparison is PS2 vs PS2, PC vs PC, etc.). Also, I don't think a license is needed to do the rosters - just the teams (which users could do pretty easy). I'm pretty sure that is what the MLB vs. CBC Distribution and Marketing (a business that runs a fantasy baseball league) court case was just about. MLB lost, and do not own player names & stats. |

I haven't bought the game yet. I am keeping track of progress and game opinion on this forum and on FOFC, so it's not like I am not interested in the game. I have bought OOTP 4 -> 6. So far it sounds like a real good game, but I am waiting to see how the first patch goes and also most likely waiting to see what you guys put together in 6 weeks with the second patch. I must say that this has been the best release in the history of OOTP and the manual is awesome. I am sure that I will buy this game eventually, but I am in no rush.

I haven't purchased it yet because;
I am short on $$$. I want to see a lot more feedback from online leagues to see how everything progresses on that front. While there are a lot of new features that I like, it seems to me there is just way too much to it. I spend so much time looking for things that I don't get to play much. Too many buttons. That would change with a lot of time with the game, but I am not sure I want to spend that time. The apparent (I may be wrong about this) inability to manage multiple teams in a league in commish mode without having to have a separate manager created for each team. You can take them over temporarily but as soon as you switch to another team the PC does what it wants with the team. My dad and I play a 2 league format in which we each manage a team in both leagues and this seems like it's going to be a pain in the butt to do. |

I have bought every version since OOTP3 -- save for OOTP 2006. Knowing it was going to be a complete rebuild, I waited until after release for some reviews to come out. Previously, I've always pre-ordered. Based on the version's comments, I stuck with 6.5.
I'm ready to buy OOTP 2007, but for me, I will not buy until there are current year roster sets available. That's just a bottom-line requirement for me. I appreciate opposing views, but I think there are a number of us who rarely post sitting on the sidelines for now. My 2 cents. |

2 reasons why I haven't bought it:
1. I wasted $35 on last year's version, and I want to be 100% certain I'm not going to waste my money again. 2. I'm still not sure if I can get used to the interface. I don't really like the "SI style" interface (such as that used in EHM). I'm tempted to buy it right now, but quite honestly after wasting money on a game I really never played (too busy finding bugs) I'm being very cautious this time around. I had previously purchased every version from 4 onwards. Not saying I won't buy it, but I really need to be convinced (which is why I'm reading the boards after a long hiatus). |

I am still thinking about it. I really don't care for the interface, and yes I know that has been flogged to death, but it just feels like too much work. I know lots of folks enjoy it, which is great, but I haven't convinced myself yet that it will be any more fun than what I am currently experiencing with my 11 season long career on 6.5.
I love hockey, but I felt like I was working trying to play EHM 2005. While there may have been a good game in there somewhere, I couldn't find the fun in it at all. This interface isn't exactly the same, but there are a number of similarities and I'm not convinced I'll be able to get past it. 6.5 starts quickly, it sims nicely, keeps all the stats I care about, interface is slick and quick, managing games is fun, even adding catobase is a breeze. It is enough of a challenge I think when I put some owner restrictions on my GMing duties (which I don't have a problem with), mostly salary availability issues. From what I have read, and from playing around with the 2007 demo, I think 6.5 was that peak where the game was just enough fun and just enough work to make it interesting. Prior to that (OOTP4 and such) it was not quite detailed enough, but from what I've seen of 2007, perhaps too detailed for my taste. I certainly don't want to spend my time sifting through hundreds of scouting reports attempting to find the "diamond in the rough". Better in-game presentation, better play-by-play, better news articles, more managing options, these are the kinds of things I was most interested in, and while they have improved, so far, not enough to justify my purchase. But I am still thinking about it!

I was about to buy the game, then I noticed that no matter what I did, it seems that the game will ONLY import players/teams with an adjustment in ratings to "a neutral, modern Major League environment".
Maybe I am missing something but I just don't understand why that is. And although it is hard to tell, from just the limited play of the demo, I fear that by starting with "adjusted" ratings you preclude any possibility of ending up with a true historical simulation. Which is all that I happen to be interested in playing. |

Indeed. Historical replays this time around turn out very well. There's probably a thread in the historical section of the forum that has some stats from someone's run.
