I finally set up my perfect universe!
After playing around with settings and structures and creating about 15 different leagues, I finally set up the league that I will play with on OOTP7. A 24 team, six division league (4 teams per division) with AAA, AA, and A league minors. All the minors are 24 team, four division setups. I have a 40 team "high school" feeder league and I do a 10 round draft. I also have a "college" league, but it is NOT a feeder. It is a 12 team WL league that only allows players who are 18 to 22 with finances turned OFF. What happens is players who are NOT drafted are typically signed by one of these "college" teams and then play there for four years. They are then dumped into the FA pool at the end of the season. I had to tinker around with this to insure that the college season ended at the same time that the ML players file for free agency. Took a while, but it finally happened. The college league has a one round draft with the player creations set very low so to insure that these players never make much of themselves. ANd if they do, I explain it that it was a rare player who didn't take up baseball until college. I auto simmed 15 seasons to see if the setup was what I wanted, it was... now time to go GM the Chicago Bruins to Major Baseball League history!

Cool idea!
i never thought of using a college league in that matter. Makes me think... or rather rethink my plans. |

I'd love to see the template as wll.
Also, how does the college league go into the draft pool? Do you have to manually pull the players over, or do they automatically go over? This sounds very interesting... |

sorry, I didn't create a template (my bad). Is there a way to create a template after you've started the league?
"college" players simply become free agents. I start that league in june to insure that they hit the FA market when all the big named FA's of the ML hit as well. I wish there was a way to put them back in the draft, but until there is, this is my best work around. So far, there's only been 3-4 players coming out of the 'college' league who make a ML impact. I've found a few good role players and some good AAA talent. |
