This is the Year! 2007 Cubs Win Thread!

Zambrano opens up the season for us as we open up with the Reds for at least the third season in a row that I can remember.

I've got some nice expectations for these guys.. I'm used to it now though; being disappointed, that is.

Wait, so you're predicting that the Cubs will win thread this year? Wow, those are some nice expectations.

Seriously, in a division as lousy as the NL Central, the Cubs stand a pretty good chance of reaching the postseason this year. Then again, when you're relying on guys like Jason Marquis and Ted Lilly...

It's a step up from relying on guys like Kerry Wood and Mark Prior.

I get the feeling we're either going to finish the division in 1st or 4th... either good enough to win the division, or bad enough to make Lou wonder why he came out of retirement.

In any case, I'll be there to cheer them on. Already got my tickets for Sunday's game at Milwaukee and the 4/20 game against the Satanic Fowl.

Funny, now that the tribune is definitely being sold to Sam Zell, they probably will win it all! Provided Zell doesn't kill himself on his motorcycle before that!

Go Cubs!!!

Yep, as he usually does.. We need to come up with a hit with two outs and RISP. If its like it was last year, it'll be a long year of course...

Izturis swings at the first pitch against a wild Harrang and pops up with the bases loaded to end the inning.

I guess a big win on opening day hasn't helped us the last two years, maybe we're going to try and get shutout today to buck the trend.

Where will you be sitting? We've got seats somewhere in the section behind the Cubs dugout.

Sweet. Is the place as nice as I hear? We've never been there. It's got to be a bonus to not have to worry about games getting snowed out in those early April games.

Oh, yeah.. You'll enjoy it, no doubt. Definitely a nice atmosphere when there actually people there. I do think that the Cubs series will be close to sellouts but not quite. Of course everything is overpriced, but like I said before, fun place.

Luckily, I had a cold this morning when I woke up so I couldn't go to work.

Unluckily, the Cubs have Ceasar Izturis, who may be 2007's winning of the Neifi Perez Memorial "Guy I hate only Slightly Less than Albert Pujols" Award.

Seriously, first pitch, bases loaded? As the guy in that flash movie "End of The World' said: "WTF, Mate?"

But beyond that, we looked really average. Z is the wrong guy out there on opening day. He gets a little too worked up for an April game. At least Cotts didn't get blasted and the 'pen looked pretty good. We do need to bench Izturis and deal with the hit on defense and let The Riot play some more.

Let the summer of my discontent begin.

Go Cubs!!!
I work for Equity Office, Sam Zell just sold that, and over half of us are losing our jobs over the next 5 months. A co-working and I were talking yesterday and saying that since Zell is a Sox fan he should cut the Cubs payroll in half so they have to get rid of almost everyone.

Then we were saying that he should put people who are losing there jobs as players for the Cubs so we have jobs.

Cubs win yesterday with a nice pitching outing from our newcomer, Lilly, he goes 7 innings allowing one run.

Today is another newcomer in Marquis. But our big problem is Eric "Cy Young" Milton pitching against the Cubs.. so you can pretty much count the Cubs out today as they always get shut down by Milton.

I didn't know that. But it helps explain this Rick Morrissey column. Gotta make the new boss happy, I guess.

Milton's on the DL, today it's Kyle Lohse, for better or worse.
