LW The two champs went into the last round dead even but Young Griffo (CH) (37-8-6) wanted it more and pulled out the UD15 over Aurelio Herrera (CH/3) (24-10) to retain the WBC LW title and win the IBF LW title.

Herrera fought well after getting off to a slow start. He had tied up the bout by the 10th round but also appeared exhausted. Griffo took the 11th and 12th but Herrera battled back again to tie it. Griffo had too much left in the final round and won it easily. It was power vs. accuracy all night long as Herrera averaged 131 punches per round but was only landing 18 of them, while Griffo was averaging 34 out of 67. that's 52% to 14%.

I had it 144-143 Griffo, as did two of the judges with the 3rd ruling it 145-143. All 3 judges gave the 15th to Griffo.

Other fights

LW - Billy Farren (UR) (7-0-1) (pre) fought to a draw with Bill Crane (UR/club) (3-8-4) (pre) . He remains unbeaten and really should have gone to 8-0. There were no cuts or knockdowns in this fight but I had it 77-75 for Farren as did one judge. The other two saw it 76-76.

FW - Black Griffo (club) (7-23-3) scored a UD8 over Harry Greenfield (UR) (6-1-1) to stop Greenfield's unbeaten career. Griffo knocked Greenfield down in the first and then held off a nice comeback to get the slim decision. I had it 77-76, the official judges saw it 77-76/78/76/77-75.

HW - Jimmy Elliot (90/52) (30-9-3) UD10 Jack Rowan (21/47) (12-3-1) (rowan at pre, Elliot trying to revive his career)

LH - Jim Dunn (36/30) (18-8-1) KO3 Billy Smith (40/50) (26-18-1) (Smith was 22-14-1 in the tough HW division but has only been able to go 4-4 against what many consider much weaker competition)

BW - Jimmy Walsh (7/6) (16-12-5) UD10 Dan Rowan (49/52) (13-6-2) (rowan at pre, Walsh's 6th win in a row)
Damn, Herrera almost had it this time if only he had a bit more gas in the tank. Still a good showing in this fight and I have no doubt that he will be back.

I posted a while back that I made a mistake. Butler vs. Russell was a semifinal match instead of the title match. So instead of McAllister getting a shot, Russell will face McCoy (who won the other semifinal) in the title match.

I got McAllister's hopes up for nothing .. he threw things around my office and broke a mirror when I told him the bad news. I had to have security escort him out and a taser was used.

Yeah I thought about messing with his strategy for the final round but let it play out, he was outscored 13-2 in the last round. He hurt Griffo everytime he landed but just couldn't catch him.

Damn, it seems like if he was just able to land a little bit more he could have beaten Griffo. Herrera just can't seem to catch a break against Griffo thats what 3 losses to him now. Well, I'm hoping Herrera can win a match or two and then get a shot at Chamber's IBF belt which I think he has a far better shot of winning.

Main Event

HW - Joe Goss (20/20) (26-6-4) learned a valuable lesson in his DRAW10 with Tommy Burns (54/50) (25-10-3). He has to fight every round or the judges will screw him.

Goss held a slight lead through 6 rounds and then dominated 3 of the last 4 rounds as Burns ran out of gas. Goss lost the 10th round. There were no knockdowns or cuts, but the right eye of Burns was swollen almost shut.

I had it 97-94 Goss, but the official judges had it 97-97/95-95/96-94

Other fights

MW - Eddie McGoorty (30/23) (24-4-1) UD10 Albert Scanlon (83/85) (8-6-2)(Scanlon was at pre)

BW - George Church (42/43) (14-3-2) DRAW10 Billy James (62/61) (12-10-4) (church at pre ... church rapidly winning the "worst 9 rated fighter" race)

LW - Paul Koehler (99/84) (11-5-2) MD10 Kid McPartland (76/85) (22-21-4) (Koehler at pre)

MW - Frank Glover (45/42) (20-21-1) UTD8 Jack Lawrence (55/68) (9-7-1) (glover at post, lawrence at pre)

HW - Tom Allen (28/21) (28-14-1) KO7 Jack Langley (90/102) (9-10-2) (langley at pre)

Word is leaking out that there were two surprising victories on the card from late last night. No word yet on who it was but this reporter knows the two lead bouts were Jack Blackburn vs. Jack McAuliffe and Bob Fitzsimmons vs. Georges Carpentier.

Okay been playing with OOTP a bit and now will be back to this. I like OOTP but I'm not much on historical (for baseball at least) and fictional does absolutely nothing for me so I'm pretty much done with it until someone comes out with current rosters. With the amount of self-entitled little whiners up there, I doubt we will see rosters for a while either. They jumped all over the guy making them because bad weather interferred and now the guy is in no hurry to do anything (rightfully so).

Anyways as usual, get a new text sim and am bored with it within a week or two and I'm back to TBCB.

Main event

LW - A post prime Jack McAuliffe (2/CH) (40-7-2) battered Jack Blackburn (1/2) (31-13-5) for 10 rounds and then held on for dear life to win the new WBO LW title.

McAuliffe dropped Blackburn in the 3rd, the was knocked down himself in the 5th. McAuliffe turned up the heat dropping Blackburn in the 6th, 7th and 10th but he was completely spent. Blackburn outscored by at least 15 points in each of the last 5 rounds but couldn't drop McAuliffe again.

I had it 141-140, the official judges had it 141-139/141-140/142-139. This was McAuliffe's first fight at post and he did not get the OG exception.

Other fights

LH - The real shocker of the night had Georges Carpentier (11/6) (21-4) scoring a KO5 over Bob Fitzsimmons (26/34) (38-5). Fitz started out okay but looked sluggish, then was dropped in the 4th and KO'd in the 5th. I had it 38-38 at the stoppage.

WW - Albert Badoud (UR) (12-0) smacked around Jimmy Mitchell (63/66) (11-13) for 3 rounds before the ref stopped it, scoring it a TKO3 for Badoud and he remains unbeaten. Mitchell was down in the 2nd and cut on his mouth in the third. I had it 20-17 at the stoppage.

FW - Young Pluto (26/20) (22-3) UD10 Abe Willis (52/60) (16-9-2)

HW - Tommy Dugan (70/59) (16-10) DQ3 Dick Egan (105/114) (20-20) (egan's first fight back from retirement)

MW - Ed Moha (40/40) (15-6-6) DRAW10 Mick Nathan (UR/42) (10-3-2) (nathan at pre .. oh the shame for Moha)

****note**** The end of 1911 was the first time I did random movements to post-prime, McAuliffe is the second big name fighter to go post prime in my uni as Joe Choynski is post also but his was the result of a retirement and subsquent comeback.

Dempsey fighting a punching bag on the next card .. his last two losses have come in non-title bouts. Prior to that his only 5 losses were in title matches. He is 40-7 but only 2-5 in championship bouts.

Main Event

BW - Johnny Murphy (5/4) (21-4-2) scored a KO8 over Hugh McGovern (19/21) (13-7-6) to defend his USBA BW title for the second time and also to finally beat McGovern. He had a loss and a draw to him before this fight.

It started out a little rough as McGovern took the first round and swelled up Murphy's left eye in the process. The next 3 rounds were too close to call then in the 5th, Murphy took over the fight. He swelled up McGovern's right eye and Hugh started carrying his hands low. Murphy scored a knock down in the 6th, then KO'd McGovern in the 8th.

I had it 69-65 at the stoppage.

Other fights

Fly - Young Oliver (UR) (10-0-1) (pre) scored a UD8 over Harr Dodge (UR) (4-6-1) (pre) to remain unbeaten and move up to the main division. Oliver cruised to the win which included a knockdown in the 6th round. I had it 78-74, while the official judges scored it 78-73.

HW - Joe Coburn (16/10) (29-12-5) scored a UD10 over Charley Mitchell (67/77) (29-14-2) to move into the top 10 in the HW division. It was a very close fight until Mitchell tired out down the stretch. Mitchell suffered a knockdown in the 7th but battled back to win the 8th. He was too spent though and lost the final two rounds. I had it 96-93, the official judges had it 95-94/97-92/95-94.

LH - Jack Dempsey NP (4/3) (41-7) KO1 Leonardo Bianco (51/57) (8-9) (bianco at pre)

WW - Young Loughrey (31/30) (16-8-3) DRAW10 Honey Mellody (36/36) (22-17-2)

FW - Percy Cove (50/45) (18-6-2) SD10 Monk Newsboy (76/84) (11-13-2)
