ootp2007.exe has encountered a problem...

As a test, I was having the computer sim through history, importing from a standard Lahman database (5.4). On July 31, 1971, I got the "ootp2007.exe has encountered a problem" message and the game closed down.

Thankfully, this was just a test league. I didn't save, and the league file is corrupt and cannot be opened now.

I'm not sure what other details would be useful.

Did you start the league in 1971 or a different year? Also, did you use the default historical settings.

It was started in 1901, importing history (to get retirees), recalculating ratings each year based on 3 years. No scouts, but coaches on. Financials and everything else (strategies, modifiers) imported each year. No minor leagues at all Used default schedules and default everything else.

Thanks. I'll try running the same setup right now and see if I get the crash.

Ok, bad news. It worked fine for me, no crash. I even saved the files on 7/1/71 just in case it did crash to send to Markus. I wonder if something strange happened in your league that caused this.

Bah! Never mind. I forgot... when I went into the league folder, all the .dat files were completely gone. I don't know what happened... so I just deleted the folder.

I've had one crash, and it happened at an inopportune moment while importing a player. From the things I'm seeing, I think there's a slow memory leak that only affects those of us with older computers. Save often and back up frequently. I'm getting out of the game every couple of hours, and haven't had any "short of virtual memory" warnings since. I bet you could get as far as you want if you only sim five years at a time, and back out of the game in between.
