HELP! Lost in the offseason

Ive played myself a lot of OOTP4 and now started manager mode on OOTP5 with the giants. Lost the world series(will the torture ever end for the giants fans?), and then i signed a 3 yr extension as manager. After that i end up at the schedule screen and it is 1/26/03. I find browse around looking for a button to start free agency or finding coaches period but there is none. i go to free agency and to my suprise there are lots of free agents and most will sign 1 year contracts on the spot! no waiting. I could also sign coaches on the spot. I was wondering if this is how it is this year, if not how do i progress to the draft/FA/coaches signing period, i cant seem to find the buttons anywhere.

oh and my players with season ending injuries from last year are still on the dl out for season

go to standings, there should be a button located near the top left

after you have fully simulated the season of course. If i remember correctly it should be blinking?

whats the date this happens? i got nothing and what is weird is that it is january of 2004 and there are stats listed under player cards for 2004
right now there is no button on the standings screen. guess ill sim a little

grrr, march 1st now and still nothing.... all the free agents have been signing one year deals, no buttons for free agency or anything

You should have gotten a button to sign coaches and scouts on January 26th.

just thought of something.... could this be because I used total minors rosters and my regular season games came up two games short(even though I never needed them and had clinched the playoffs). my team only completed 160 regular season games. I never fixed the all star bug cause I thought i had no problem. Im in mid march, still no spring training, still no draft

Are you sure you have the league set on career and not replay? I think something like that happened to me once...

I had the exact same thing happen to me in OOTP4. I started a career league in 1994 and after I finished the 2013 season, my game froze on 1/26/14. Where there was supposed to be a button for signing coaches/scouts, there was nothing. I could go view the coaches/scouts if I wanted to, and even sign them to contracts. No teams were bidding against me, however, and there was no way to advance a day.

I tried just telling the game to simulate a day to see what happened, but when it got to 1/27/14 I still had no way to make teams bid for coaches/scouts.

The other thing I noticed was that MANY players in the league all of a sudden had nothing but zeroes for ratings.....which sucked because my entire team was now all 0's.

If anyone (especially Markus or someone on his team) has a way to fix this, I would be most appreciative.

In all of this did you do anything like skip spring training, use an outside schedule generator, etc?

I had this same problem last year because i didn't install Rolen's roster right. In the end there was no spring training so i just had to scrap the league and start over. My guess is that you didn't install the roster right and you are prolly missing some files that you need. I re-installed the game into a new folder and that solved the problem.

I have the exact same problem as above, except i wasn't able to play any seasons! In my case I had just imported my v4 league, pushed the button to proceed to next season. I wanted to import the lahman db, and game crashed because i was using v4.5 , not 5 (of lahman). when i opened ootp5 again, i was on 1/26 and faced the above situation. i sim'ed through to 4/1, but other than other teams releasing players, there was no activity in the league the whole time. but then i faced the 32 team schedule generator problem (covered in another thread). tho it was nice to have my pick of FA's and coaches, i'm now sitting dead in the water. Please help!

Steve, i did none of that, all I did was import the rosters(didnt fix em) and start a manager mode game. i am pretty sure it is because of the first seasons start date and how I didnt complete two games. Because it is in march now and the guys that were out for the season last year , are still listed as out for season. sounds like they still think it is last season. Guess there is nothing I can do except start over.
