I'm surprised you didn't get a preview, come to think of it. Either way, I do hope that 2007 brings you back! Cheers!

I really don't think it's our job to convince people like Bruce that he has to make up his mind before he sees it. It sounds like he's approaching the game with an open mind and will check out the demo. Isn't that what we want? For those of us who are beta testers or got a preview version, that's essentially what happened for us. So if we like it, it's because we've seen it. Don't take it as an insult because someone doesn't trust your word enough to plunk down $35 bucks sight unseen.
FWIW, I hated 2006 and like 2007, but I also know that with all of the new features and fixes put into the game, it's not going to be bug free on release day. Every piece of software has bugs when it's released. Even without bugs, some will like it, some won't. That's their right. I think 2007 really does take the series to new heights. I think most people who are fans of the series will end up feeling the same way. But it's certainly within their right to poke around in the demo first.

We've seen a few people in the preview forum who flat-out don't see anything that will change their minds compared to 2006. It's up to them if they want to post here for discussion. We've seen a few non-preview people on the board who felt the same way after seeing the feature list (MorseMoose comes to mind). For those of us who like 2007, that's surprising, and it's interesting to try to understand what's missing. It's hardly Nostradamus material, but I predict there will be people after the launch who: a. still can't get past the interface b. appreciate the improvements but still just don't like it as much as 6.5 c. are profoundly disappointed that certain things still aren't in the game, or weren't changed from 2006 d. run into some technical glitch that sours them on the game Hopefully, of course, 2008 will bring even more of those people back into the fold, but our goal isn't to force people to enjoy the game, or to force people to "admit that it's good." It should be an interesting few weeks right after launch, as always.

Reading all this makes me wonder if I'm one of about seven people that haven't gotten a preview yet.
![]() Ah well, it's only a week and a half til release. I can wait. FWIW, I didn't like 2006 either. I gave it another shot recently with a dynasty thread I just ended due to impending lack of time, and I can start to see how I might be able to get into it given a little more time, so I'm feeling pretty positive about 2007 (which I preordered despite my irritations with 2006, because I'm weak-willed that way).

In a very few minutes, using the default FaceGen stuff in the game, you can create stuff such as this:
I can't wait for mods to create some real 1908 caps, etc. to make them even more realistic. |

I was going to post this question in a new thread but this looks like a good place....
Now, from what I understand, in order for you to use the Face Gen software on your computer to generate the images you must have a 3D card. (I don't). So.... 1. If someone else "generates" the images can I import them into by game and then use them? 2. Is FaceGen just for the faces or can it do the jerseys and caps as well? If not, then how is everyone making the jerseys and caps? I think the jerseys, team logos, and caps are a great way to personalize my Fictional League - give each team there own identity so to speak.... Sorry for what may be repeat questions but I'm kind of new to OOTP. I messed with 2006 a little bit but got turned off by the interface and menu navigation. |

FaceGen does the entire image. As for the other question, I'll let someone else answer that one.

Point being only that, even if OOTP 2007 is the best version, ever, it won't be loved by everyone. And, if the CM/FM analogy holds true, there will indeed be some technical glitch that only happens to one person in a thousand, but which Markus won't be able to fix right away, and that one in a thousand will feel that they've been cheated. No right or wrong in that one. |

Reading through this forum and seeing the screen shots of the new version, I find myself thinking that I will have to get the demo and see if it is as great as the game seems. If it is I will surely put my $35.00 down for the game.
I have been away from the boards for a bit and was surprised on all the nice new features that 2007 will have over 2006. Markus has done a great job with this product in the past and it appears that he has another winner on his hands with 2007. Looking forward to playing this new version. Regards, Steve |
