I would love to see American Pro or College Football. It would be a perfect fit for their current schedule. It is a August to January sport, so it really wouldn't mess with OOTP or FM release schedule. With Eastside going away, it could fill that void in the winter for non soccer fans.

Is this speculation or have you heard a rumor? F1CM looks promising, but it seems like it's been in development forever.

I saw it on the F1CM Wikipedia page once, but it's since been deleted from the article.

EDIT - it was on the Sports Interactive page until its last revision which now says it will be football-related instead.

I've thought lacrosse would be a good one as well - you could have the sim go all year around too, with both indoor and outdoor leagues.

Also I've thought (ice) hockey would be a good one.
There was a great freeware game by a Finnish developer, I think it was called Eastside.
Get a licence from the NHL and other North American and international leagues, and Bob's your uncle a new sim built on a solid start.

SI will NOT be doing an F1 Manager. Its been shot down ad infinitum by SI management on the SI boards because of licensing costs.

They wouldn't have to use real names, unless that's the only way they'll do a sim.

American Football is definitely the way to go, as the audience for it is huge.

However, how radical of an idea would it be to have a game that covers College and Professional in one game?

It's never really been done before, but the two go together almost like Major and Minor League Baseball. The simulation engine would be almost identical and the player models would be identical, because you need the same attributes in football no matter what the level is (obviously you need to be better in the Pros, but speed is speed, hands is hands, etc.)

Just think about the possibilities here of having a coaching profile like you do in FM07. It would totally feasible to have yourself start out as an Offensive or Defensive Coordinator for a college team or a pro team that eventually wants to get hired away by a college or pro team as a head coach. You could switch levels, as happens in real life, players could have relationships with you, as happens in real life. How fun would it be to recruit that kid from Texas as a high school senior, coach him through college to a Heisman Trophy and a #1 overall pick, only to get hired by the team that drafted him to be the new head coach?

The possibilities here are enormous, but the design would be equally enormous. You'd have to have a recruiting engine AND a drafting engine. You'd have to have Free Agency AND scholarship limits. Bowl Games and Playoffs. Dogs and Cats living together, mass hysteria!

But it could be the most perfect game ever.

Its not going to be the same game, but dont forget that Grey Dog has a fantastic college football game, and Arlie is currently working on a Pro version based on that game, where you can take your graduating college players and import them into the pro game. I agree that having them both in a game together would be interesting though

I don't see how it would be interesting considering it would still be two different games, assuming you want to control a team in each league.

Anyhow, like Nukester said, GreyDog is coming out with their Pro game at some point. This game will be bounds better than its first creation(TPF, of course its not the same game, but some people will be comparing to it). If the game is anything like BBCF, then I will be putting so many more hours into the game.

BBCF has created probably the greatest online Text Sim Online League ever. 100+ active owners. Radio broadcasts, constant articles, lots of talk on the message board, and an arcade(okay that doesn't count).

Great fun!

I agree, the Gridiron GLory league is AMAZING! Props to Cooley for that.

FM is the best sports sim bar none. It's turned people apathetic about "soccer" into addicts. An American football game with that depth, well it would be so sweet...

It saddened me to see EA's NFL head coach this past year. I kept thinking if only SI would do this game. Although, EA's development studio could surprise us and churn out a good game in the next few years, we'll see...
