Revised 2003 facepack has been uploaded
The revised 2003 facepack, which includes photos of all but 13 players in GForce's set has been sent to both textsimdownloads and Baseball Sim Central for posting. I imagine SmerfMat will have it at his site later today or tomorrow.
Remember if you use this file all photos are saved in jpg format and you must follow the instructions to convert them to bmp or they will not work in the game. It has to be this way because of the size of the file. It is a little over 10 mb in jpg but would be well over 100mb if it was bmp files. The file contains over 3400 players so it will have many that GForce adds when he updates his set. Keep in mind I made most of this set last summer so many traded players are in their old uniforms. I just did not have the time to update everyone but I did make sure nearly every player has a photo and most are very good quality images. Here are the 13 missing players. If you have a photo of any of them please post it so others can use them. Thanks and enjoy. BOS John Lester P age 19 CHW Andy Gonzalez SS 21 Anthony Webster OF 19 Col Zach Parker P 21 Det Brent Clevelen OF 19 Anderson Hernandez SS 20 TOR D.J. Hanson P Phi Elizardo Ramirez P 20 KC Andres Blanco SS 18 NYY Robinson Cano 2B 20 Rudy Guillen OF 19 Javier Ortiz P 23 MON Luke Lockwood P 21

If you were using real players from 2002 2003 it would work fine.
It should be posted here soon, perhaps already done. http://textsimdownloads.com/ootp.html

Yes, I was using the real guys on the old Rolen set. . .Now, let me ask you this, for the rest of the guys that are fictional in my league, are there any facepacks that I can use on top of say your facepack to fill in those holes, so that everyone has a picture?
I want to thank you in advance.

Great Photo Pack. It is really clear and very well put together. Many thanks.
I used my ACDSee 5.0 to convert all the images to BMP format...and it works fine...so you could also use things like that. I also converted them all and then put about 25mb worth of photos into 5 different ZIP files...just to kind of back them up without having too Convert them all over again if I need to. Doing that is okay right? I mean I am not going to post them or anything...its just for my personal backup use. In other words...this doesn't infringe on anything legally does it? Thanks for the great work TigerFan. |

Hey Tigerfan, I was thinking about creating a late 80s early 90s photo set. Would you know where i could find the pictures at?

For late 80's ebay may be your best bet. Also try using google to search for the players you want. I have been collecting my historical images for over 2 years now and have over 21,000 images of about 8500 different players. However, I focused only on pre-1980 as well as todays rosters and have very little from 1980-99.

------------------------------------------------------ *****NOTE YOU MUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW OR CONVERT THEM TO BMP IMAGES YOURSELF. JPG IMAGES WILL NOT DISPLAY IN THE GAME********************************************** ** __________________________________________________ __________________________________________ This set was started as an attempt to find a player photo for every player to be included in the GForce 2003 beta roster set. I have found an image of all but 13 players included in the set. The missing 13 are listed below. If you find any of them please post it on the OOTP messageboard so everyone can use them or email to me at tigerfan_1ca@yahoo.com Here are the missing players: BOS John Lester P 19 CHW Andy Gonzalez SS 21 Anthony Webster OF 19 Col Zach Parker P 21 Det Brent Clevelen OF 19 Anderson Hernandez SS 20 TOR D.J. Hanson P Phi Elizardo Ramirez P 20 KC Andres Blanco SS 18 NYY Robinson Cano 2B 20 Rudy Guillen OF 19 Javier Ortiz P 23 MON Luke Lockwood P 21 In order for some players photos to display you must change their names. Here are the changes needed. Make sure you make it the exact same way I did here, including any periods or spaces. Here are the names that have to be changed: STL Change first name of catcher Kevin Brown to Kevin L Pit change first name of 2B Abraham Nunez to Abraham O. Min Change first name of 2B Dennis Hocking to Denny Min change first name of P Johan Santana to Johan A. Mil change first name of SS J,J. Hardy to J.J. Mil change first name of P Curt Leskanic to Curtis Fla change last name of SS Alex Gonzalez to Gonzalez2 Atl change first name of P Bobby Jones to Bobby M. If a player photo does not display check to see that it is named the same in the game as it is in this download. For example if JT Snow is named like that in the game his photo will not display until you change his first name to J.T. (you must include the periods). These file were saved in jpeg format and must be converted to bmp to work in the game. The reason is the download would be close to 100mb if I did not save them as jpeg images. I have included a great freeware program I discovered called BatchThumbs. It makes it easy to rename all the files in a couple of easy steps. Instructions are below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOW TO CHANGE FROM JPEG TO BMP HOW TO USE- The photos in all my packs are saved in a format called jpeg. It makes for a much smaller download but unfortunalty the files must be changed to a format called .bmp for use within the game. The program called Batchthumbs (included with this set) is a freeware program I discovered that will do the job of converting the files painlessly. Here are the steps you need to follow to enjoy the photopacks I compiled. 1- After downloading the Face pack zip you will need to unzip the file to a temporary directory. Any directory will do but for the purpose of this tutorial I will call the directory "photopack". So unzip the files to c:\photopack. 2- Go to the photopack directory and unzip the program called bthumbs.zip It can be unzipped to the photopack folder. Click on the bthumbs.exe file and follow the installation instructions. 3- Once that is done open the Bthumbs program. If default instructions are followed you can click on Start - Programs - Batch Thumbs to open the program. 4- The first screen you see in Batch thumbs is the one where you select the files you want to convert. Go to C directory and find the folder called Photopack. Click on it and then click on the button that says select all. Next make sure the option at the bottom that says "Rename Copy or Convert." is selected. Then click on Next. 5- Page two of Batch thumbs determines where you want your copied files to go. In most cases it will be the photo directory of your league file. If you have not created a league yet for the 2003 pictures than you can make a new directory to store them. It can be called anything you like and when your league file is made you will just have to copy and paste the photos into the .lg/photos folder within your game. Lets assume your league is created and is called GForce2003.lg At the bottom of the page click on Copy/Convert files. When that is done you can then find the photos folder for your .lg file by clicking on the c drive, then program files, then 400software and then on OOTP5 folder (assuming you installed the game in the default directory path), and then on your GForce2003.lg folder. Click to open the photos folder. There are some settings you need to make to the options at the bottom of the screen. Make sure the writing above the words Output file naming option says "Qualifier as Prefix with File name". Make sure the writing in the box of "Convert files to type" is set to bmp. And finally make sure there is nothing written in the box above the words Output File Qualifier. If there is just highlight the writing and delete it. 6- Click on next and it will take you to the final screen. Double check to ensure the following is correct INPUT DIRECTORY - Should say c:\photopack OUTPUT DIRECTORY - should say c:\programfiles\400software\OOTP5\GForce2003.lg\ph otos (or whatever your .lg is named) CONVERT FILES TO - should say BMP OUTPUT FILE NAMES - should say Will not be changed If all is correct click on GO and it will convert all files for you. If not click on back and you can fix the error by following the above steps. It is actually much easier than the tutorial says. I had absolutely no experience with a program like this and got it right my second time (first time I forgot to delete the writing in box above Output file qualifier). It is now second nature to me after 2 uses. I just wanted the instructions to be as precise as possible. Once that is finished just open the OOTP5 game and go to league setup. Click on enable all photos and you are done. Any questions or problems post them on the OOTP board and myself or another regular will be glad to help you. Thanks Tiger Fan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LEGAL TYPE STUFF - As for BatchThumbs. I did not create it and if the owner wants it removed from this zip please let me know and I will do so. It is an outstanding program so support the creator if you can and feel so inclined. The photos themselves were all found from various sources on the internet. I have included them not for any profit on my part. I simply want to make a great game even more enjoyable. If you own the rights to any of these photos and want them removed just let me know and I will comply. I can be reached by email at tigerfan_1ca@yahoo.com

Like someone else mentioned in this thread, I am getting an out of resources error when I attempt to use the Batch Thumbs Program. I have 512 MB of ram and 55 GB of hard drive space among other things, so I am not sure why this is occurring. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem, or get another program that other people have mentioned using (such as ACDSee 5.0)?

I also tried rebooting my computer to use batch thumbs again. This time it said "specified resource not available in image" After that it said invalid cursor and I had to use end program to get out of an endless loop. Any idea of anything I'm doing wrong or how to get another program which can convert it would be great. Thanks.

Yeah I have the full version of ACDSee 5.0 and I just used that. It worked the very first time I tried it. I know there are Trial Packs you can download of ACDSee for free...so download that and then convert them using ACDsee.
