Trade Counter Offers

Is there any way to make counter offers to trades initiated by a computer GM? It looks like you can only accept, decline, or check again later. Is the counter offer option only available when you initiate a trade and want to see what the computer GM is interested in?

this is my understanding of it. You can always go initiate a trade with the same team and make an offer close to the one made to you

Ok, thanks. Have you tried declining and then offering a trade involving some of the same players? I know in previous versions, I tried that with no luck. Many times the computer GM wouldn't even accept the exact offer he had previously made me!

So far I've only received one offer and accepted that one as is.

hmm, well im past the deadline right now, but i did have the exact situation happen. I got offered Erstad for a top A ball prospect, a middle reliever and some crappy minor league position player. I then went to the trade screen and offered Ryan jensen( SP i sent down to AAA) and Joe nathan(reliever in originally in the first offer) for Erstad and he accepted. Way better deal for me since Jensen wasnt going to come back up and I had a lot more hope in the prospect.
I can usually eventually get a deal , but the problem with this years is that I cant see the comments made by the other gm when I make an offer (like "that's close") the only time comments show up are when he presents a counteroffer. Hope that gets fixed soon because those comments can be useful

I read in the manual that once you delete the trade e-mail, it voids the offer and I guess the AI forgets he even made the offer to begin with.

Just a guess

I usually dont decline . I check again later. I always end up waiting a while to delete my emails anyways.... maybe too long

Someone posted in a previous thread a temporary fix for that. If you go into the graphics folder and then the folder for whichever skin you are using, there is a file called textcolors. The first line of numbers is something like 10, 10, 10. Changing this line will change the color of the text that shows up in the trade window. I'm using 125, 125, 125.
