Text Colors

I might be the only one having trouble with this, but I'm having a hard time reading the on screen text. I have looked for answers on this forum, but nobody else seems to be having this problem. The white text on the screen is hard for me to read. I either need a way to change the text to a darker color or a way to change the background. I looked in a thread that said to go to the textcolors.ini file and you could change the colors, but I don't know which one or ones to change or what to change them too. Can anyone help me?

Sorry, I saw the thread right after I started this one. If someone could delete this thread, please do.

I believe the color numbers are RGB format.
That means Red,Green,Blue.
The higher the number(0-255) then the brighter that color will be.
Can't tell you which line to change but to make black use 0,0,0.
To make white 255,255,255.For bright red 255,0,0.Etc.
Hope this helps.

I don't think the problem is really with the text color so much as it is with the background color. On my desktop, the backgrounds on all three skins are too transparent; you can barely tell they're there. On my laptop, the backgrounds are much more opaque and the white text shows up fine against them - looks really, really good actually!
Both systems are running the game in Direct 3D mode and when I checked the video settings of both systems they appeared to be the same: 1024x768 resolution, True Color (32 bit) color setting. One difference between the two is the O/S: Win98 on the desktop vs. Win2k on the laptop. I also upgraded to DirectX 9.0 on the desktop to see if that would help. Didn't.
I'm sure this isn't the first thread of its kind, but with the search down its kind of hard to keep up. Anyone else having a similar issue or have a fix for this?
