In a better world the FA would hold back 25% of that and allocate it to all the professional and semi professional leagues in the country. It would be a shame if they died off.

I think bottom price is actually 30 million. Still a big increase in finances. Besides, if these teams could sell out their pads at higher prices they would.

Football will self implode if it doesn't watch out, too many teams are spending way over their budget to get a piece of the Premiership cake and to stay in the Premiership to keep their piece of the cake. Over the last few years we've had big teams like Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday going out of business and it's only a matter of time before a big club goes belly up.

Plus fans are fighting back at high ticket prices and refusing to go to games with Wigan, Bolton and Blackburn fans being at the top of the list, even United fans are planning a protest at Fulham this weekend.

Does anyone feel that the large amount of matches the Premiership teams play hurt them in the spring in the CL and UEFA Cup matches? And perhaps the World Cup?

Wouldnt it be better to cut back the Premiership to 18?

The thing is though why should the Premiership cut back the ammount of games when it's the Champions league and the UEFA Cup who keep adding games to the schedule, makes you laugh when UEFA keep going on about leagues playing too many games when it's the Champions League and UEFA Cup that makes teams play more games than they've ever done.

But dont the extra matches hurt the English teams? Neither Arsenal or Chelsea impressed this week or in the last few seasons. Why is this?

About Mascherano. Is anyone wiser as to what deal was approved for him to become a Red? Yesterday I read something about his contract being so complicated that few people understand it? The type of deal that brought them to England in the forst plcae should be banned.Super dodgy from the start.

But you could use Liverpools win at Barca and Uniteds win at Lille to counter the played too many games idea and the fact that English teams have done better in European competition than any other nation think their tied with Italy or just above them and that's including 5 years when they were banned.

According to some reports they payed £1.5 million for him but the reports don't say where this money as gone or even if Liverpool actually own him, personally the Premiership and the FA really screwed up on this, West Ham were stupid in letting this deal go through as it could cost them their Premiership survival and Liverpool are dumb in getting involved in the whole thing when they don't even really need him.

Going under the team name of Shameful United this is a Madden type team but filled with players who pretty much just cheat or make fools of themselves and their clubs/countries.

First on the list is Barbarez from Bayer Leverkusen, doubt many if anybody would have seen him play against Blackburn Rovers in the UEFA Cup but I've never laughed as much at a player for a longtime.

The score was 0-0 and Blackburn needed to win anyways wasn't long to go in the game and Barbarez gets hit in the face by a Blackburn player in the Bayer penalty box but Bayer broke on the counter attack so he didn't go down, but the attack broke down and to waste time Barbarez went down with a delayed reaction to being hit but he didn't go down in the box he actually went down near the centre spot a full 50 yards from where he had been hit just to waste time.

So we go to the second reason he makes the list, a few minutes after the first incident there's a bit of pushing and shoving between the players and clearly Barbarez gets pushed in the chest by a Blackburn player but for some strange reason Barbarez feels the need to grab his face and goes down qucker then if he had been hit by Ali in his prime.

Second to make the short list for the starting 11 for Shameful United is Ambrosini from AC Milan in the Celtic game, Ambrosini broke into the penalty box and was challenged by a Celtic player but he rode the challenge and stayed up but 2 yards later he realised he couldn't get to the ball before it went out of play and decided to do a dive that Greg Louganis would have been proud of.

Hmm, it seems Mascherano is on loan for 18 months, and the Reds will buy his contract from that dodgy company(MSI) that "owns" him in order to end the dual ownership arrangement. I agree, the whole things a freakin mess. Is he a holding/defensive midfielder mainly? I only ask, as I didnt see many of the Argentine games at WC 06.

Depending on how much they'll pay MSI if they decide on a permanent move, it could be good business. His Brazilian club paid UD$15 million, and Wenger was reportedly looking at a 16 mill pound offer after the World Cup. I'd say 1.5 mill plus wages for 18 months isnt a bad "gamble" if he can live up to his WC performances(which I hear were OK). Maybe Rafa has more player movement in mind, and Mascherano will be a starter...who knows?

Did you watch the St Helens v Brisbane game ? Thought Brisbane would have run away with it with the start they had but turned into a decent game.

Yeah, I watched it unfortunately. Wasnt impressed when the majority of the crowd cheered when Thaiday hit the ground head-first and was just laying there, but its the same over here sometimes too.

Not sure when an Aussie team will win over there again. St Helens were too good eventually, but it's 30 degrees over here(was 7 last night there apparently) and we are still in pre-season. But,like I said, Saint Helens deserved the win.

Wasn't that cold really over here infact been a very mild winter, thought Brisbane would have won as usually Aussie teams only come over a couple days before the game but they've been over here about a week or so plus Saints have been playing crap so kind of surprised they didn't win.
