Unified Baseball League needs 3
The Unified Baseball League originally began as a combination of Major League, Negro League, and Pacific Coast League players. After many years of creating players, we are extremely close to Jackie Robinson's debut and now use an Ankit roster set as we close in on the 1946 season. The league debuted in 1927, has a lot of history, and with the 50's on the horizon looks to get nothing but better.
It is an OOTP 6.5 league where you must own the game. Salary cap of 90M with max cash of 15M. Feel free to hit the link and examine the rules if it sounds interesting. The 3 available teams are: Los Angeles Angels Cincinnati Redlegs Boston Red Sox Just email me at putt@zanyaidan.com if you have any interest or questions. Thanks! |

The postwar era is a great time for baseball. In the UBL, it's even better -- Major League Baseball, the Negro Leagues and the Pacific Coast League have been merged for many years and all the great stars of all three are here.
The UBL has a smart, mature group of GMs, yet remains a pretty laid-back place to be. And it's great to get to know -- or get reacquainted -- with all these magical old-time players. The league just needs a couple more dedicated owners to make it all it can be. As for the remaining open teams: -- Even on autopilot, Cincinnati gave me fits all year, coming just two games short of keeping my Brooklyn Royal Giants out of the playoffs. This is a team with great pitching, led by a terrific little lefty called Jonas Gaines, whose 26-13 season won him the Addie Joss Award (our equivalent of the Cy Young). It was his fifth straight 20-win season. With the likes of George Barnicle and Russ Christopher to help, it looks like the Reds' rotation will be solid for quite a while. Cincinnati's offense isn't quite as impressive, but guys like Buck O'Neill, Bad News Hall and Walker Cooper do provide some firepower. It's a team that will require a steady hand, but nothing like an overhaul. -- The Los Angeles Angels are a first-to-worst story that could use a happier ending. In 1944, even on computer control, this team embarrassed all of us by winning the UBL title. Autopilot didn't serve the Angels well in the long run, though, as LA finished in last place in the Landis League West in the season just finished. There are some great young stars on this team, like Roy Campanella, Johnny Mize and Buddy Armour, but it needs some work. The Angels' ace pitcher -- the ironically named Baby Cunningham -- will be 38 next year, a fact that could leave LA with almost no pitching any time now. Are there any rebuilders out there? -------------------------- "HEENEY MAJESKI JOHNNY GEE EDDIE JOOST JOHNNY PESKY THORNTON LEE DANNY GARDELLA VAN LINGLE MUNGO WHITEY KUROWSKI MAX LANIER EDDIE WAITKUS JOHNNY VANDER MEER BOB ESTALELLA VAN LINGLE MUNGO AUGIE BERGAMO SIGMUND JAKUCKI BIG JOHNNY MIZE and BARNEY MCCOSKY HAL TROSKY AUGIE GALAN and PINKY MAY STAN HACK and FRENCHY BORDAGARAY PHIL CAVARRETTA GEORGE MCQUINN HOWARD POLLET and EARLY WYNN ROY CAMPANELLA VAN LINGLE MUNGO AUGIE BERGAMO SIGMUND JAKUCKI BIG JOHNNY MIZE and BARNEY MCCOSKY HAL TROSKY JOHN ANTONELLI FERRIS FAIN FRANKIE CROSETTI JOHNNY SAIN HARRY BRECHEEN and LOU BOUDREAU FRANKIE GUSTINE and CLAUDE PASSEAU EDDIE BASINSKI ERNIE LOMBARDI HUEY MULCAHY VAN LINGLE VAN LINGLE MUNGO" -- "Van Lingle Mungo," lyrics by Dave Frishberg
