Unhappy No fullscreen mode?

No full screen mode with this year's edition? What a shame. I purchased the game the past two years and enjoyed it both times, but if there is no full screen mode I guess I'll have to skip this year's edition. Hopefully it is brought back next year for OOTP6.

=(

It's nothing that is going to stop me from buying the game, but it would be nice if it were an option, because full screen makes the game look a lot better on my computer.

I mentioned before the reason why this was not included is that the full screen mode did not work well with all of the HTML that is now included in the game. It wasn't just "not included" in this version.

I voted yes, but Jays9293, give the game a chance... I think you'll find it to your liking

I'm sure the game is great, I've heard from multiple sources that it's a huge leap from 4 to 5, but if I can't hardly see the text, it's probably not a good value. Huge mistake was made here.

I've heard alot of people complain about this. What's wrong with changing your screen resolution? I really don't see this as being a big problem.

Frankly I prefer non full screen mode myself... I think this is a fantastic change.

It will allow me to multitask a *lot* easier and be online and play at the same time without the hassle of Alt + Tab

I believe the saying goes, 'You can't please all the people all the time.'

The way I interpret Steve's message is that the option for Full Screen was considered, but ultimately had to be left out because of new functionality that I presume was requested in the beginning.

The thing is, it wasn't a mistake. Per Steve/Markus, full screen simply was not compatible with the new HTML. I'm sure if there was/is anyway Markus can get it into the game, he would/will.

Please continue to feel free to complain about this or anything else, but realize that the new version has almost been completely redesigned and things simply will/can not work the same way as in previous versions.

Yes, I'm pissed about a lot of things in new version, mostly, features that have not yet been implemented, but starting multiple threads about the same issue(s) doesn't help any one.

Since this was addressed by Steve in a separate thread stating that the HTML didn't allow for full screen mode at this time, posting a poll about it just doesn't serve any purpose other to flame/troll. At least in my opinion. You may have a different one.

I wish it was an option... I can't even get the game to work in non-full screen mode

I actually did not know the issue had been previously addressed. The point of posting a poll was to let the game designers know that they should put it back, but if it can't be done, then it can't be done. It has nothing to do with flaming or trolling, it has everything to do with trying to make the game more flexible, but as was said before, if it can't be included then it can't and it's time to turn the page.

Jays, thank you for the reply. Very well written. I apologize if the tone of my post came out wrong. Just because I had seen it addressed earlier, doesn't mean everyone has.

Perhaps I should have just kept my nose of it or at the very least should have worded my post differently.

Either way, your response was exceptional and I hope you continue to post your observations/thoughts on the game.

I agree in making the game as flexible as possible, even as is, I find it too rigid to really play the way I'd like to. Unfortunately, OOTP is the best baseball sim I've played so far.

I sincerely hopes that Markus finds a way to allow for fullscreen mode because it appears several people are unable to properly read their screens as is.

I have adjusted my screen resolution, so I think it will be able to work. However, I will probably hold off on the game until shortly before the regular season begins. That way when I set my Blue Jays lineup it will come closer to mirroring real life. In addition to that, perhaps a number of patches will be released to help iron out some bugs which are inevitable in a first release. Until then, I have a nice OOTP4 career league going. Happy gaming, everyone.

I multitask alot, so I never used fullscreen mode in past versions... well up until the latest OOTP4 update, which for some reason doesn not work on my computer in non-fullscreen mode.

I think a better worded poll would have worked better... "Should there be a fullscreen mode?" or "Do you want a fullscreen mode?"

But you asked "Does OOTP5 need Full-Screen Mode?"... and to answer simply... No, OOTP5 does not NEED it... would it be a nice option? Of course but it certainly isn't needed.

The only I could get my Demo of version 4 to work on my laptop was when I had it in 'full screen mode." I'm guessing the same will be true in V5 so is it true I may not beable to play w/o upgrading my computer? Say it ain't so :-(

Some games changing screen resolution causes other problems.
If done in ootp does it increase the woindow size so that everyting is larger and still visible or does the printing now spill over the window edges?

I tried adding the line, Fullscreen Mode, Yes (not sure if that is exactly what the line is as I actually just copied it from the OOTP4 game configuration file) to the OOTP5 game coniguration.ini file.

It appeared to work for about a second, then the screen minimized and stayed minimized. Nothing I did would open the screen again, even though I did hear the menu sounds when moving my mouse over the screen.

Finally, I had to alt-ctrl-delete to end OOTP. Then my display went all wacky and I had to reboot.

I suppose on another computer / configuration different results may be seen, but it is NOT something I would recommend as it made the game unplayable and crashed my system.

After rebooting and restoring the backup copy of the .ini file, the game worked the way it did before with no problems.

Again, I did this just for a test, but would NOT recommend trying this. If you do, back up your original game configuration.ini file before adding the line.
