I pre-ordered. If you had asked me before the feature list had been released my answer would have been "not a chance." I love 6.5, but 2006 was too much work and the historical inaccuracy drove me crazy so I kind of shelved it except for playing out games for my 'Kid with Guts' dynasty.

I had an online league I started with 2006 that was a ton of work for me to setup: it was in 1936 and had the real Japanese and Negro Leagues in it - that's the kind of flexibility that 2006 had that made it so attractive for me. We played 1 season and all the GMs (6.5 vets all) except for a handful wanted to scrap it as "not being fun." After seeing the list of features (and wishing I was still a beta team member - I beta tested OOTP 3 thru 2006 but didn't make the cut this time around), I think that league will be back.

I've got a minor league database under construction as well as my Negro League and Japan databases (also under construction) and it will be great to see them used in 2007 - which I firmly believe will happen if the game's historical engine is as solid as the word coming from the beta guys indicates.

Absolutely! Us Mac people don't get much sports gaming love from anyone other than SI. As long as they put out a game I enjoy I will support them.

Unfortuantely before my time as a Mac user; I didn't "see the light" until 2002. I've heard that it was an awesome game, though.

Hey Guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster! I was wondering if anyone knows if the OOTP 2007 demo will be available prior to the 10% discount expiration. Thanks and I hope to be more active from now on!

It has been stated that the 2007 demo most likely will not be released until on or after the date (March 23rd) of the game release.

I decided to pre-order. It was a bit of a tough decision as 1) I tried the demo for 2006 and wasn't that thrilled with the new game. 2) I'm happy enough with OOTP 5, 3) I usually prefer to wait until the latest game is out then buy the previous year's version for the lower cost. and 4) was not sure if I liked the direction the game is going with 2006 and onwards and thought I might be happier with version 6.5 or just sticking with 5.

But I decided to go with it since it's been more than a few years since I bought the game (version 5), and wasn't expecting to buy the 2006 version even if the cost dropped a bunch after 2007 comes out. So might as well buy it now and get the discount instead of waiting until 2008 for the customary drop in price. I was also thinking that version 6.5 wasn't a big enough step up from version 5 to warrent the cost (which the last time I looked at is the same as buying 2006).

I'm hoping that the changes in 2007 will be enough for me to get past what I didn't like in 2006. Also I didn't really give 2006 a huge test run before the demo expired so perhaps my dislike of the new system was more just not playing enough to get used to it. I just haven't had the time the past two years with me going to college to devote trying to learn a new, much more complicated and detailed game. But college will be over when 2007 comes out so I should have the time to give the new game a chance.

Still, a little worried that I won't like the more complex, involved game that 2006 and 2007 have turned the franchise into. When I tried the 2006 demo I thought the game was becoming dangerously close to feeling too much like Football Manager (which is what turned me off Eastside NHL Hockey), and just too complex and involved for what I wanted. Last year I was thinking I might have to switch to Puresim as it might be closer to the style of baseball game I wanted.

So this is a leap of faith for me, I usually prefer to let the game come out for a few months, try the demo and listen to the comments before deciding to buy it or pass on it. But I feel ok with the decision, since it's been so long since I gave Markus some money...

Oh, alright. I'm still going to pre-order it, but I just wanted to know about the availability of the demo. I'm most excited about the manager histories myself. I really dig the idea of being able to carry on a managerial legacy for years and even decades on end. Thanks for the help, though.

I had preordered, but then I liked 2006. With the features list shown, and the comments of the beta team on how much better it is, it was a no-brainer for me...

...man I hope my faith is justified.

You liked 2006. It plays like 2006, but it's easier to navigate, faster to sim, and has better aging/player development curves.

I think you will love 2007.

Boy I'm glad that they sent out this second email about the pre-order. Of course, its Friday and I keep getting server errors when I try to pre-order, but it's still early.

So, yea I will pre-order when I can.

I figured out the server errors I was getting. I was clicking on the PC store link at

http://www.ootpbaseball.net/buy.php#order

which was taking me to:

http://www.elicense.com/sigames/index.asp

when I needed to go to:

http://www.elicense.com/sigames/store/index.asp

Don't know if anyone else was getting this problem, but popping in "store" like I did cleared everything right up.

I pre-ordered! I had to use IE instead of Firefox to put in the discount code, but I'm in...it's confirmed!

I presume we'll be getting two licenses, as before?

I will pre-order as soon as I get the supposed email as an owner of all previous versions. Has anyone gotten this thing yet? I want my discount!
