Transaction Screen (Arrows gone)
One thing I noticed about OOTP5 Transaction Screen is that you took away the arrows to let us know if someone was playing at the wrong level. Now the only way to see that is in a minor league report or to wait for the scout to send an email. I know that alot has been added to this screen to make it better, but is there a way to add indicators back in? Maybe change the players color if he is at the wrong level??

The arrows were removed on purpose.

I'm glad. It was too easy to determine when someone should move up.
Of course, the only way this really works is if the stats the minor leaguers generate correlate to their potential. If not, then we really don't know who's good and who's not. |

Well the problem with removing them is that you can still figure out where the "arrows" belong simply by looking at the Minor League Report screen.
So in reality they haven't changed the system they just made it more annoying to figure out. Your scouts are still "telling" you what level the guy belongs at but now you have to look at the report, put the names to memory and then go to the transactions screen.... All it does is add an extra step and doesn't change the system. Personally I think this is a step backward because at the moment it is nothing more than an extra hassle. Change the system or put them back I say. |

I personally think it's a good move. I never liked being forced to see the arrows when I would go to the transaction screen.
btw, if you choose to use the arrows, you don't need to memorize the names since the minor league report page opens up in a new window. |

I want the arrows back. Removing features that we were used to is bad.
They should have left them in and made them subject to a toggle switch.

I agree with Steely Glint. It's not about being lazy but it is just something *extra* to check that really isn't necessary. All I am saying is that if they are going to reveal that information to us why not do it where it is most convenient: on the transactions screen. It isn't some secret information now that we should guess at. We can still figure it out but now we have to regularly check another screen we never had to before. This isn't a HUGE annoyance but it is an unnecessary annoyance nonetheless so why make this change?
In OOTP4 I almost never used the minor league report screen. If I wanted to look at my farm teams I would go to the minor league line-up/rotation screen and easily flip through their stats and ratings, making any position/lineup changes I wanted as I went along. If I wanted to see what level they belonged at I would go to the transactions screen where I could conveniently move them up and down. I thought this was a great system personally and saw no reason to even look at the minor league reports. Probably the biggest annoyance though for me now is checking other teams this way. I enjoy flipping through the transaction screens looking for players who are caught in log-jams and such and then trying to trade for them. I could see instantly who was on the DL, who is on the trade block and who is ready to move up. Now this is a multi-step process and I can see no reason why. I just don't get it is all.... It depends on, as KSyrup said, whether a player's stats correlate perfectly to how well he's doing.
Anyone who's hitting .333/.400/.500 at one level should be moved up to the next. If the game doesn't reflect that - and OOTP4 didn't always - then there is an imperfection in the minor league design. So if that limitation no longer exists, and the "arrows" are still on the minor-league report screen, but are really just guidelines reflecting what we can see with our eyes with the stats, then I don't think the arrows matter anymore. Personally, I don't think players should ever get docked skills or ratings for being played at too low a level - nor should their potential be strongly negatively affected. Each level should unlock some more of a player's potential, assuming he is ready for it. If a player is 26 and still at AA, then he's lost AAA dev time and that in itself is a punishment. Although his ability to be a superstar should be affected, as perhaps his longevity should, his ability to perform at the ML level should not be totally jeopardized. |

If you're lazy, you can always just hit the Auto Manage Minor League button on the transaction screen and that should have your scouts move the players to whatever rosters they believe the should be on

Hehe true but I am not lazy. I don't like the way the auto manage feature works but at the same time I don't want unnecessary hassle. I know it probably sounds like laziness but I just don't like wasting my time with things I never had to before....

I had a pitcher with a 4 Run ERA in AA. My coaches felt he was ready for AAA. I decide, what the hell. He now has around a 2 Run ERA in AAA. I can understand how that works. Maybe he was gettin bored in AA (players rating do decline or halt when kept in specific levels) and the move to AAA excited him and helped him push his talent up. I think it makes sense, but it still seems weird. |

Does anyone know if minor league stats in the REAL minor leagues correlate with potential? In reality the minor leagues in real life are pretty random. Some guys that look like they stink come to the majors and dominate while guys who are a sure bet stink. Removing the arrows makes the game a bit more realistic.

I've seen guys that are not potential stars hit .300 with ease.
I've seen guys that have eventually become Hall Of Famers in my league, hit well below .300 in the minors. Then ofcourse, you have the players who are pathetic and out of nowhere become stars. The stats are extremely helpful in determinin a player's ability, but it should not be used alone. The scouting report, coach advice, and ratings should all be used as well when makin a decision. |

I miss the arrows too... having them be toggle option would be best in my opinion... don't know how hard that'd be to do though.

I would like to see them back also.
I liked to see at a glance what my scouts thought of the player's ability. I then reviewed the stats to determine myself if the player was at the appropriate level. |
