Almanac - Imported Leagues

I was really looking forward to the almanac feature, but it looks like it isn't created for your league's past when importing a v4 league. The League History is there (in the same basic format as in v4) but the rest (Past ROY, Cy Young, Past Champs, etc) is blank.

I'm simming through a new season now. We'll see what it looks like then...

If you have all the saved seasons from your league, I think you can convert them one at a time and move the almanac file to the current league folder as you go. Just assuming this will work. Haven't tried it yet.

I do have all saves. What do you mean the almanac file?

No almanac file is created by v4. Do you mean the News folder?

convert each season( from the archives you have saved), and hit proceeed to next season. It should then create an alamanac for each season you are ending. Then delete the league file, extract the next season, and follow the steps above. I think this will work, not sure though.

Oh, I see what you mean.

1) Convert a single season and proceed to next season.
2) Then delete the v5 league you converted (but save the almanac file from the league in a different folder).
3) Convert year 2 and proceed to next yr.
4) Delete yr 2, saving the almanac file.
5) Continue this for each year, moving the almanac from yr to yr until done.

I'll give it a try.

Why does it seem like the almanac will get overwritten if you use that method?

If it merges with the already existing info, great. My concern is that it will overwrite.

One thing I'd love to see is a way we can manually add the stuff into the game.

I don't think it would get overwritten, that's the way the almanac works as you proceed from year to year. If it gets overwritten then you can only have 1 year at a time in there, which isn't what I've been hearing.

This is only speculation though. I'll have to wait until the weekend to try it out

The almanac file is blank after you import the league. It's only created when you proceed to next year at the end of the season. All you have to do is take this almanac folder and move it somewhere safe.

But I'm still testing this to make sure.

This should work in theory. The almanac is a database that updates instead overwrites. So, it should work OK. I can't wait to get home to try it. This would mean I can keep right on rolling with my solo Metros instead of going back and starting over.

Here's what I've done so far. I took the first year of my league (that I saved in v4 at the end of the season before I proceeded to next year) and imported it to v5.

After that, I moved on to the next season in v5. In the almanac, I can now see the Yearly Almanac for that year, but the Past MVP, ROY, etc. is still blank.

It looks like the Past MVP, Cy Young, ROY, etc. are generated at a different time than the yearly almanacs

But I do get the Past League Leaders and Past Champions now. Strange.

If there was some way to import an Almanac via CSV the way you import the rosters via CSV, this would be rather easy to handle, and allow long-running leagues the chance to update their almanac.

Steve, is there any way of doing this, or is the possibility there for someone to make a third-party utility? I for one would love to see this implemented somehow, perhaps as a reward for those who have used OOTP3 and OOTP4 religiously over time, and want to keep their history preserved in the game.

a big second to this! I don't want to have to start my 3rd generation league from scratch. Please give us csv - alamanac capabilities.

Any official word on the best way to handle the almanac for established leagues converting from v4 to v5?

Wondering if anyone has pulled multiple past season Almanac conversions off.
