He will be, he's been found guilty without even having his say, he'll also lose his appeal because Dowd refereed the Middlesbrough v Bristol City game last night and usually if they think a ref as screwed up they take his next game off him. Dowd wasn't even meant to have been the ref in the Arsenal v Wigan game but they said Gallagher couldn't ref because of what happend in the QPR v China game, so pretty obvious that the powers that be believe Dowd so Jewell wont have a leg to stand on.

What sort of punishment do you think Jewell is looking at?

Depends on what Dowd's put in his report but I'd say a touchline ban and a fine, Whelan's on his side and is loaded so he'll pay the fine. Yesterday Southgate who's Middlesbrough's manager came out and said our refs are the best and so on, so was wondering why he had come out with this statement that was until I saw that Dowd was the ref for last nights Boro v Bristol City game, talk about your butt kissing.

Unless they free fall and end up getting relegated and can't see that happening, not because their too good to go down but there are worse teams than them that will go down first. Plus with all the fuss that Boro made to get him the job they'd look a bit silly if the sacked him, I'd give him hmmm a year or two at most before he gets fired.

By all accounts life in the land of West Ham isn't going too well, not had a look myself but according to a few Latics fans who visited the West Ham message board they want Curbishley out already

Whelan's been quoted as saying he can have the job as long as he want's but also wouldn't stand in his way if he wanted to leave to go to a bigger club, alot of Wigan fans myself included think that Jewell will walk in a year or two because until we start getting secure in the Premiership we don't have the fanbase or the name to attract decent players, plus Whelan has a salary cap which is the right thing to do imo but means no matter how much we offer teams for players the players wont come because they wouldn't get paid enough.

I know its heresy and many will hate it but too bad there isnt some kind of a draft for under 17's.

Can't think of what it's called because I'm tired and about to hit the hay but there's a freedom of movement thing in Europe least I think there is that would stop a draft being possible, anyways catch you laters, peace.

Chivas 2 - Cruz Azul 1 at full time. A defensive lapse off by La Maquina off a free kick leaves giant Chivas defender Francisco Rodriguez all alone to finish in the corner of the net off his nod. Cruz Azul get one back with Miguel Sabah finding the net on the volley off a header played tight in front of the Chivas goal. Lots of late chances for Cruz Azul to get the equalizer, but Chivas defenders were able to disrupt the shots enough to tuck the win away. Buen partido.
Palencia scored one of the luckiest nice goals Ive ever seen for, I believe, America over the weekend.

Extra time should be in every match in which there is a tie after 90 minutes regardless of competition.

Old Firm are 'buying off' referees - Hearts chief

Quote:
Hearts majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov has accused the Old Firm of 'buying off' referees and players in Scotland.

The controversial Tynecastle chief is currently involved in a legal dispute with the Scottish Football Association after he appealed a fine for accusing Scottish referees of bias last season.

And Romanov, who also has an interest in Lithuanian side FC Kaunas, could be in trouble again after yet another astonishing outburst on the state of Scottish football and the influence of its two biggest clubs, Celtic and Rangers.

Speaking in the Russian magazine Futbol, which was transcribed into English in the Daily Record, Romanov said: 'Celtic and Rangers? Even Kaunas are a match for them on the pitch.

'They have turned football into a type of showbusiness with their underhand games.

'They buy off players and referees. When it comes to weaker teams then nobody can help.

'But if two opponents are equally matched then the referees can have a real influence on the outcome.'

And asked why Eduard Malofeev failed to win a game in his four-week period as Hearts boss last year, Romanov said: 'Well, if you've got five people in the team working for Rangers and Celtic, what do you expect?'

The Jambos transferred Steven Pressley and Paul Hartley to Celtic in the January transfer window after the two players, along with goalkeeper Craig Gordon, had publicly revealed 'significant dressing room unrest' at the Gorgie club in October.

However, Celtic chairman Brian Quinn dismissed the allegations and threatened to sue.

'I think it is absurd. Absolutely ridiculous. If he is saying this I will take legal advice on this today,' he told BBC Radio Four's Today programme.

'The Scottish Football Association will clearly take a clear view of this.'
