Exactly. Don't stop the game . (period) I'm sure that the TV scum would love to have an excuse to stop the game and show commercials and I say ****'em. Let us at least have one sport where the whole activity is not centered around the need to show commercials.

They don't have commercials when they go to replay in rugby.

Is this the 2nd MLS-EPL partnership, after LA Galaxy-Man U?
It's Chelsea and Los Angeles Galaxy. I think you are right that it is the second partnership.

Chivas Guadalajara 1 - Cruz Azul 0 at halftime on a re-directed shot glancing off the shoulder of Adolfo Bautista. Lots of incisive attacks and crisp passing in midfield and several good stops from both keepers so far. On Azteca America for those interested in tuning in.

Chivas 2 - Cruz Azul 1 at full time. A defensive lapse off by La Maquina off a free kick leaves giant Chivas defender Francisco Rodriguez all alone to finish in the corner of the net off his nod. Cruz Azul get one back with Miguel Sabah finding the net on the volley off a header played tight in front of the Chivas goal. Lots of late chances for Cruz Azul to get the equalizer, but Chivas defenders were able to disrupt the shots enough to tuck the win away. Buen partido.

Does anyone know the team that had the most relegation seasons in a row starting from the top tier leagues?

In my time I’ve seen both Bristol City and Wolves drop all the way from the top flight to the fourth in three consecutive seasons, but I don’t know if anyone else had done it before in England. Certainly no one has dropped straight down to the fifth tier since automatic relegation was introduced, and as long as relegated EPL clubs get the vast parachute payments I very much doubt we’ll see anyone replace Wolves as the last to do it within the 92.

The quickest to drop to the Conference since the introduction of automatic promotion is Oxford. They fell out the top flight in 88 and last season fell into the Conference, a decade on from their Wembley triumph in the Milk Cup.

Bad luck for Wigan.

You can't blow a game where the referee has no intention of letting you win, he did the exact same thing last season in the League Cup semi final when he turned clear cut penalty claims away but he failed to help Arsenal win in that game were he didn't fail yesterday.

I see Mr Beckham turned up and saved the mighty Real Madrid only problem that people have failed to mention is the fact it was against Real Sociedad who had only won two games all season and had only scored 12 goals in 21 games so were hardly going to beat Madrid no matter who played, add the fact that the goalkeeper looked more intent on keeping his jersey clean rather than saving the free kick that Beckham scored from.

Can Sheffield United not afford to tarp their field? How can a top flight club play on a surface such as that?
Why in the hell has Michael Brown been named Fulham captain? He does nothing but foul. I don't mind a good hard tackle but he's not even a good tackler.

Typical beaurocratic crap from the FA towards Jewell. Questions:

1)Who assigns refs and why dont the FA have at least an advisory role?

2)Why is Jewell in trouble and not the official?

Quote:

The Football Association have charged Wigan boss Paul Jewell with improper conduct for his post-match outburst at referee Phil Dowd at Arsenal on Sunday.

Jewell was incensed by Dowd's performance at the Emirates Stadium, specifically his refusal to award Wigan a penalty when Mathieu Flamini appeared to bring down Emile Heskey in the area when the visitors were leading 1-0.

Dowd further infuriated Jewell by not letting Josip Skoko back onto the pitch after he had received treatment, meaning the Australian was still stood on the sidelines as Fitz Hall scored the own goal which set Arsenal up for a comeback win.

After the final whistle, Jewell stormed towards Dowd and vented his frustration at the referee's handling of the game, before following his outburst up with stinging comments to the media after the final whistle, which have since been backed up by Latics owner Dave Whelan.

The FA, who have made it clear they have nothing to do with the appointment of Premier League referees, are still investigating his post-match comments, and have confirmed the current charge relates purely to his personal rant at Dowd.

'Wigan Athletic manager Paul Jewell has been charged with improper conduct for his behaviour towards referee Phil Dowd following the final whistle of the match at Arsenal on Sunday, February 11,' said an FA statement.

'He has until February 28 to respond.'

Because the official makes the report so is judge, jury and executioner.

FIFA are having a crackdown next season, you may ask yourself what they are cracking down on. Players diving ? Hmmm no, Corruption in football ? Hmmm no, Violence in Italian football ? Hmmm no, or could it be the offside rule that nobody understands ? Hmmm no, Celebrating after a goal ? Noooooo surely not as there are way more important matters to sort out but yes the powers that be at FIFA have decided the most important thing to crackdown on is a goal celebration, I finally give up on FIFA.

Maybe they have been negativly influenced by the NFL and their pathetic celebration rules?

There are 3 reports made after a game,

1) By the referee which is pretty much gospel.

2) Is by an observer in the crowd who marks the referee, if the observer gives him a bad report then he either doesn't officiate in a game the following week or he get's sent to Leigh RMI to ref a game just joking it's usually a Championship game or maybe Division 1.

3) Is by the managers of both teams which is usually a 1 out of 10 kind of thing but to be honest I don't think these carry much weight as Jewell gave bad marks to Dowd when he was referee in the Arsenal v Wigan League Cup semi final last season and also the Blackburn v Wigan game this season but he still gets to ref Wigan games.

Also usually the Refs Association or whatever it's called and the FA, EPL says which ref does which game but it's rumoured refs like Poll pick and choose which games they ref, which is usually the prime games.

This is the problem when you get a bunch of suits running a sport, don't get me wrong there's a place in sports for businessmen ie sponsorship, promotional stuff and such but to me rules of the game should be dealt with by ex professional footballers.
