Union League Baseball

- League name: Union League Baseball
- League URL: http://ulb.lethargathon.com/
- League type (historical, fictional, etc): fictional
- Special league rules: coaching/scouting on
- Number of teams: 8 currently, with expansion yet to come
- OOTP version: 2006 currently, with plans to move to 2007 after the Inevitable Bugfixes

Union League Baseball is a fictional OOTP 2006 league.

You can find our website at http://ulb.lethargathon.com.

We have scouting and coaching on, and we use three levels of minor leagues, but other than that, it's pretty much the standard OOTP online experience. (Except, you know, that many of our GMs are funny, smart, literate and mature, which, ahh, isn't always a given ).

We currently have eight teams and are considering a small expansion during the off-season.

ULB looking to expand

Union League Baseball is looking for the perfect GM to head up one of our possible expansion teams during the off-season.

Who is the perfect GM? Someone who:

- Is good about exporting regularly
- Wants to join a league that puts some emphasis on writing press releases like these or these or these or even these. We're not, strictly speaking, a "writing league," in that it's not mandatory to post regular press releases to stay in the league, but our strong preference is to sign on a new GM who wants to actively participate in all areas. Your application is your chance to show us your commitment to that.
- Has a sense of humor and is good to be around.
- Doesn't mind the challenge of building an expansion team from the ground up.

Are you that person? If so, we're interested in hearing from you. Visit this thread on the ULB forums. You can reply to the thread as a "guest" or contact me personally (e-mail me at pj dot killian at gmail dot com -- PM at these boards is also fine) to arrange for an account on the forums. (This is an annoying but necessary countermeasure to a persistent spammer.)

Everything he said is correct!

ULB is my first online league and I've had a fun time thus far! And the good commish is correct, writing is highly encouraged and everyone does a really good job but at the same time he and the other GMs have been really great about allowing me to finish my A's dynasty here first before I dig into ULB full-force. So much to do, and so little time, but they're great as long as you too communicate.

How about following this guideline? http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=137712

Makes it much easier when things are neat and tidy.

Bumping up this thread to point out that we're looking for at least one good 'n motivated person to help fill a vacancy. We have two franchises in need of good owner/GMs and we're birthin' two expansion franchises in this offseason.

We are making the switch to OOTP 2007 this week, so if you're rolling with 2007 and don't use (or fear online leagues using) OOTP 2006, you're in good shape.

In addition to visiting the signup thread, please visit this thread on the ULB forums to let us know where you hope to end up. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

The ULB Saved My Life

I was a sad, desperate and angry man, on the verge of a suicidal 5-state killing spree before I joined the ULB. Then, almost immediately, the healing began. Suddenly, I found I could turn my disjointed mental processes to the glory of baseball! I could run my very own team! I could write fictional accounts of slurpee cup curses and reclusive, Salinger-eqsue shortstops. I could watch as my star players all fell to injuries or else underperformed in epic fashion. I could focus my angst and propensity for violence on one dark enemy rather than spread it about on so many innocent bystanders.

I tell you all this, dear reader so that you will believe me when I say that the ULB saved not just my life, but my very soul. Now go sign up and change your life for the better! Remember, the life you save could be your own!

So I haven't gotten a confirmation via email yet but it appears from your boards that my Queens Metropolitans are gonna be vying for dominance in the ULB this year. Actually... considering our last place finish in 2006 that might be putting it strongly but I intend to get us into the playoffs in 2007 and win GM of the year for turning around the franchise.

Things are gonna be shaken up, that's for sure... starting with figuring out why I have the second highest player in the league and he had a 4.52 ERA in 2006. Ugh. You're on notice Dino Roy, be warned.

The ULB is looking for two dedicated owners (see above) who are available to jump in and serve as an expansion team on short notice. Please use the above contact information to get in touch with me. This is a fun league!
